Just swapped Fleur Davies out from my bench earlier today. Had to pay up for Havana Harris for now. See how the other $300k Rucks go.
Given the ruck situations at Essendon, Geelong and St Kilda, I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't get at least one of the $300K rucks getting a game. The Dogs could also potentially run with an Edmonds/Hardingham combo.

I've run a $1.5M bench each of the last two seasons and it's worked out fine, so I'll be using $300K placeholders at each position for the moment.

(EDIT: Hardingham with a lazy 151-point game in the VFLW today. A much lower standard, obviously, but still a big score.)

GWS played a 2 half intraclub matchsim before their family day yesterday, a few notes:

  • Goldsworthy seems to have a similar role to last year, which could be both a frustrating own and non own. Basically does whatever she wants, seemed a touch more time forward.
  • Huntington still at HB and looking great.
  • Evans still forward.
  • Shroj spending time in the middle, I need to see more but looks to be filling the Barr hole, awkward price though. Spent time training both as a mid and winger.
  • Big watch on Eleanor Brown, need to see how the side shapes up but could have a decent role, was getting plenty, and the price is nice.

Also, from the Swans, there's no return timeframe on Molloy, not sure why she's so highly owned, so plan around not having her early.

Srhoj could be a bit more pricey Breed style pick this year.

Centra, Zippy and O'Hehir will be in mixed roles for the looks

Have people already picked their teams?

Have people already picked their teams?
Heck yeh. But it's subject to change.
On the above news, I probably won't go with Zarlie at F1, and I need to replace Lauren Young already.

Here's the AFL.com in demand 21 as compiled by Liam from the free kick podcast.
I think I have like 10 of them.

Just signed up and got NFI what I’m doing (long time SuperCoacher, but I want to do AFL fantasy to keep me engaged over the season)

Are their websites that people use to get stats etc. for AFLW fantasy?

With SC I usually go to TooSerious

Any other resources for rookie coaches? YouTubers who do a good job explaining the basics of picking a half competitive team?

I've been using this one.

You can also google a player's name along with the words "AFLW stats". aflwstats.com is pretty good.

Jaiden Popowski's site is very useful. It gives you things like breakevens, matchup difficulty, etc. He was doing a podcast with Bailey Irrgang on youtube last year. I don't know if they're doing it again this year. There's also the free kick pod which does some amount of explaining the basics. They write some articles on the official site which might be helpful too (even if Jono was a bit too dismissive of Amber Clarke for my liking).

Sounding like Bre Koenen moving into the midfield on a more permanent basis this season for the Lions. Looking noticeably leaner . Watch for your back lines.

Apparently Frederick isn't rucking for Collingwood. Barnett is. (in pre-season game vs Essendon)
There's so much whackiness and carnage going on it's hard to know what to make of things.

Port beating Crows, Dogs beating Roos, players going down everywhere, whacky positioning.

Watched GWS-Syd. Wanted to get an insight into GWS DEF, but Huntington sat it out, so it's impossible to tell how that looks. Brown worked into the game quite well though. Parker could be very good value. Levy looked solid, and talks a lot of trash which is fun.

Grierson was frickin' everywhere for the Swans down back. Sydney Davies was everywhere also, rotating in ruck and utility, big watch there as could be good value. Swans rotated too many through midfield to tell much, though I'd watch Ham closely. Morphett looked great but pretty much rucking against no-one, so it's hard to tell much, I don't see value there.

Watched GWS-Syd.
Other than Brown, did any rookie priced players make an impression? Did you notice what the starting mid setups were? Howley and Kos got some mention after the intraclub on the official website. I don't want to fork out an extra $100K for an M6, but Howley was a first rate ball magnet as a junior and, if she's getting CBAs...

Too many rotations and whackiness to get much more than a general feel, Newman ended up in there at a couple of points. The game was 4 quarters with a break in the middle of each, so both sides we're pumping them through.

Howley won't debut R1, came on halfway through for a few touches, mainly wing but we were getting smacked so real hard to read. Bernasconi never throws them straight in, but I reckon Martin is the far better option.

As is usual for us under Berna, it's the same leaky, high risk, gamestyle, maybe tightened up just slightly, but they're so young so it's gunna be a high turnover game. I'm looking elsewhere for forwards unless Zarlie has a blinder in the praccy, but Parker/whoever has the HB role is looking value.

Thanks for that. I'm trying aggregate as much as I can about the match sims, but some of them are ghost towns. I couldn't get to Moorabbin because of junior sport commitments and there's complete radio silence from the Saints on how it went. I had to go to the Geelong site to confirm it even happened. I'm going to miss next week as well, but at least we should get scores from next week if nothing else. I need to know about roles, though (and we got no insight from the free kick St Kilda ep).

I've got Brown at D3 ATM. No way I can afford Zarlie and I don't see much upside there unless she plays as a permanent midfielder at some point. It makes sense to ease Howley into it if you can.

Any thoughts on Fish?

Doesn't help that they smashed them all into Fri/Sat, half the clubs didn't screen them, and the other half didn't do post match reports.

Fish is good. More of a role question. Around it, not a lot of TOG, but so hard to tell what Gowans will throw up.

Two to watch closely next week are Hausegger and Martin. Hausegger got mid time, and Martin looks real solid.

Looks like Harris has escaped serious injury.
They're now saying she'll miss the start of the season, so I'll have to rework my forward line.

While I was reworking my forward line, I encountered a new and interesting bug, see if you can figure out what it is:

Whoa, points galore. Imagine if it stayed glitched like that.
