Winning the contest and then converting it into forward pressure wins AFLW games especially in the wet. Once we did that we took control.

I have to keep laughing about us "skyrocketing" and "roaring" to the top of the ladder.

We were already there guys. Sure, the Dogs technically were ahead of us right now but that's just because they'd already played.

Find me a player in the mens’ game like Belle Dawes. Pure competitor.

Ally was great, Hodder worked hard. Dakota’s best game - lots of team first stuff today. CSvarc terrific, RSvarc showing signs. Grider, Koenen look really comfortable in controlling the defensive 50 and distributing forward.

That was Fantastic! Even the crap weather couldn't stop our Lady Lions! I was watching in the car, probably looked like I was having a seizure I was that excited!!! Melbourne annoy me more than Adelaide. GO LIONS!!

Solid grind from the ladies. Got jumped but never out of it. Defensive was immense from qtr time. Great fight back. Going to be a difficult team to beat this year. So so strong across the field. On top where they belong 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁

The baby in the circle sung the song with gusto
He looked like he was pretty chill with the whole thing. Getting high five's from all the ladies.

I get the feeling that Sharni Webb is treating any game she plays this year as her last. She was pretty handy today though (as was everyone really).

Hard to pick 5 from that. Loved Dax's game - she's definitely having a far greater impact this season. Ally more physical today than usual. Hickey so good, Pearce had to resort to blocking her illegally at centre bounces (wake up umps). Cathy a wrecking ball and will have the whole comp hearing her footsteps. Batesy, Sophie and Belle were tenacious. Orla quiet offensively, but still made 9 tackles. And a very even effort from the defensive group.

I was thinking the same when she said that.

managed to watch the replay on the afl site. Good win.

Wardlaw is such a bloody beast. Her poise on her feet and her core strength now are in really good balance which allows her to be super dangerous. Compare that to her 2 years ago, I have high hopes Taylor Smith too ;). Dakota too is super crafty, and is plucking some really important marks up the ground for us.

The Svarc sisters make me hold my breath when they go for a run, its a bit nerve wracking, but thoroughly enjoyable.

I wanna go investigate where the cameras will be set up at springfield, because that was a bad angle to view it at. Hope it will be higher and be more enjoyable viewing for our home matches.

Watching the game live, credit to the conditioning staff and clearly the effort the girls go to. They looked in great condition. Melbourne pressure was as good as ours but they just dropped off a tiny bit in the last quarter and we are able to push the ball forward a bit better and took the scoring opportunity.

I don’t think a lot of people have yet really realised that the top end of the AFLW comp is quite a decent standard now. The bottom end not so much perhaps with the new clubs. And the Lions are at the very top of the top end this season, looking accomplished right across the park.

Grider -possibly the best intercept and rebound defender in the game.
Koenen, Campbell and Ellinger - hard workers who cover ground and work well as a group.
Hickie and Smith are a really mobile ruck pairing who can contribute across the field.
The midfield is top quality inside and outside the contest and very very hard to get on top of. Teams are now trying to tag multiple players, like Orla and CSvarc with limited success.
The forward line is the most destructive in the comp, any of them is a threat, a nightmare for opposition coaches.

Added to that, extremely fit and very well coached.

I honestly hope more people come to appreciate this team and enjoy it.

Also Tahlia Hickie is one of best players in the league.
It finally clicked that I voted for the wrong ruckwoman. Oops, fixed that.

Belle Dawes is quickly becoming my favourite player. Tough, tenacious and has some deceptively good skills and game sense. Just reads the play so well. She's Starting to realise how good she can be.
