Feeling slightly more positive about Indi staying after listening to her quick question and answer session, where she mentioned Sarah Goodwin as being one of her best friends. :)

You can tell from that short clip that she's not very excitable or expressive with her emotions, so probably wouldn't read too much into her looking flat on draft day. I think that's just how she is.

Good to see her mention a desire to play in a finals series. If we can remain a premiership threat, I wouldn't be surprised to see her stick around at least long enough to win a flag.

Meanwhile, there's a nice little puff piece on Ewings:

https://www.afc.com.au/news/1706358/aflw-ewings-on-what-it-means-to-return-home

“I’m feeling really good at the moment, I had that year off to reflect and I’m really glad I went through those challenges because I’ve come out on the brighter side, and ended up here,” Ewings said.

“I lost my way a little bit this year, and ended up taking some personal leave, but I feel really refreshed now and excited by the opportunity to be around a new group and part of the environment the group has built here.”

...

“From conversations I’d had with the crew here at the Crows it seems like a great fit, and I could not be happier to be back home,” Ewings said.

“I grew up in Whyalla, which was affiliated with North Adelaide as well as the Crows Academy, and I was lucky enough to be selected in both programs as a junior, where I was able to fast track my development.

“From there, Chelsea Randall, Hatchy (Anne Hatchard), and even Erin Phillips were there coaching me, and they all had such a great influence on my journey.

“To be back where it all kind of started now, I couldn’t be happier, it definitely feels like a bit of a full circle moment for me and it's a really nice, warm feeling.”

Fairly bullish about next year, given we have recruited/drafted so well. One of our issues is the underperformance of the bottom few players on the fringe of the team. They seem to be a bit blocked by Time on Ground, but still don't smash it with the time they get.

You'd have to think we can get better performance out of S. Allan and Ponter as well. More from Charlton and Kusterman too.

Can Randall keep it up? She killed it this year. Still, there is lots to like, lots of improvement possible in the squad.

Hoping that the Coaching Director position is 'Whole of Club' and is there for Doc Clarke ad assistants which may lack coaching experience. These being Renee Forth, Madgen, Strachen, Rajcic, Cramey & Hannah Button.

Very strange timing to see a re-signing announcement in the middle of the AFLW’s Sahara Desert season but imagine the only hold up why this wasn’t announced with the rest of the signings late last year was most likely due to her commitments in the Defence Force.

Very important signing, albeit unsurprising.

“Polly is a genuine star in the making who has been on North’s radar for years. She made last year’s under-16 All-Australian team and has now committed to football (after also being a standout basketballer). Well built and possessing a great mark and kick to match, Polly (daughter of former Rooster and inaugural Crows squad member Peter Turner) can play at either end of the ground but she is also very adept at winning a loose ground ball in the midfield and or even playing in the ruck if required. She is a multidimensional player who is as versatile as they come. 2025 will be an exciting season for the 17-year-old, who we expect to debut in Round 1.’’ – North coach Kelly Barltrop.

Hannah Ewings listed for a HFF for North Adelaide against the Tigers.
Interesting move this given the Crows have pretty much let it be known they see little to no value in their players playing in the competition anymore hence organising the combined fixtures with Brisbane against Sydney.

Being the only AFLW listed player freed up to be named this early in the season I wonder if a special dispensation was granted due to taking a year away from the game previously, also can’t think they’ll want her to play many games for the Roosters so it will be interesting to see if she’ll also be part of the cohort that take part in those scratch matches.

I reckon that's exactly it.

Get her out running around again in a game will do her good. From a Crows perspective they'll want to see just how far away she might be.

Not sure what to make of SANFLW stats

Even though Polly Turner is 2 Drafts away in 2026 she made her SANFLW debut and SANFL website "Rooster Polly Turner had a debut to remember, booting two goals from her 13 disposals and four marks while also laying three tackles" and North score 4-8 - 32.
Polly Turner kicked another couple of goals in that North game on the weekend, it’s a bit annoying she finds herself 2 drafts away as she was born on 16/01/2008, so turned 17 in January. So under the current eligibility rules in place it makes her 17 days out from being eligible under the AFL’s men’s & women’s blanket rule which has 31/12/2007 as the cut-off date for being eligible for the 2025 drafts.

I think if you’ve finished high school the year prior to the next season starting and are 18 by the time pre-season officially starts for the AFLW in May it should be taken into consideration that they can change the eligibility criteria specifically for AFLW.

AFLW 2025: Sydney coach wants league to address ‘disadvantage’ facing some clubs

An AFLW coach has called for change as a quirk of the competition’s lengthy off-season hands one group of clubs a distinct advantage as the 2025 season approaches.

Restrictive off-season training rules have left non-Victorian AFLW clubs frustrated and with the belief they are at a “massive disadvantage” approaching the 2025 season.
Both Sydney and GWS withdrew from the VFLW this season after deciding their existing five-match arrangements were too expensive and made it difficult to manage the workloads of their AFLW-listed players.

But the Swans are unhappy with a league ruling that they and Adelaide can only field 12 contracted players when the two sides meet this week in Sydney.

In a pair of subsequent fixtures against a combined Adelaide-Brisbane side (which will be permitted to field eight AFLW-listed players from each club), the Swans will still only be allowed to name 12 of their players.
Sydney coach Scott Gowans said it denied the Swans and other non-Victorian clubs the same opportunities to develop their players before the official AFLW pre-season begins on May 12.

“I don’t understand that rule at all … it’s a bit baffling. I think the reasoning is because they don’t want to give any AFLW club more than 12 because it’s what the VFLW does,” Gowans told this masthead.

“At the end of the day, all parties want to see the AFLW develop and grow, but this just seems like a silly roadblock to put in front of us.”

Coaches and football bosses from half a dozen clubs have expressed frustration to this masthead over the strict limits on organised training sessions once the three-month blackout period ends in February until May 12.

Gowans, who was willing to voice his concerns publicly, said the rules favoured the nine Victorian clubs (excluding Richmonds) which are currently aligned to VFLW clubs. “Going forward I would hope the AFL puts together some sort of match sim and scratch matches available to the clubs which isn’t as restrictive as it is at the moment.”

Watching the SANFLW v VFLW game at Alberton, VFLW are too good for them (SA can’t kick straight), that Victorian women’s football depth like I warned about for years is developing & really coming through now, a number of players in that side could/should be on AFLW lists.

In terms of SA very impressed with Cristina Leuzzi a 21 year-old small midfielder from WWT who reminds me a lot of Rachele Martin when she was at SANFLW level, is having a very good season. Could be worth a look at the higher level.

I was watching more for where Mel Anderson the half forward from South is at who trained with the Crows all last year & who I wanted the Crows to look at in last year’s draft, always reminds me of how clean a footballer she is when I see her play. Also good to keep tabs on Katelyn Rosenzweig to see if her very good SANFLW form she’s had for multiple years carries over, still think there’s an alternate timeline where the Crows don’t delist her as a teenager and she’s still playing as a strong marking key forward at AFLW level. Also as I said last draft time Kiana Lee from Norwood would also easily hold a spot in the Crows forward line.

Sidenote… yet another season I mention that Zoe Venning is still a very good footballer who should’ve got a chance at AFLW level for lots of teams around the league who needed inside mids - is still only 21.
