Club needs to get tougher on those who leave, players and officials just cheer them off. Both Prowse and Boileau at the Crows table at the B&F hugging each other, when pissing on the club and buggering off.

The next step in AFLW developing in less of that kumbaya all the best crap.

Eh, I'm agnostic about this. It's not like we gave Prowse the world and she threw it back in our faces. Sounds like we didn't fight particularly hard to keep her.

I wonder if we already knew about this when we decided to try Cronin down back?

Sucks to lose her but hopefully we'll get something decent for her. We need to hit the draft hard and bring in some genuine young talent.

Time for a rebuild with some aggressive list management. We cannot contend in future years without young talent
We need a rebuild.

we can either stick it out and slowly slide down the ladder, bottoming out in 3 years time, then needing another 4-5 years to climb back - OR - we can get aggressive.
Trade Hatchard - see if you can nab a top 5 pick. Be brave.

Suspect one of those picks and whatever we get for Boileau will go to Richmond for Egan. They must be confident of getting a Essendon 1st rounder for Prowse then.

Massive overpay for a player they don't want. A future first and Boileau is WAY too much. A third rounder is fair value

Zoe Prowse has requested a trade to Essendon

We've also delisted Ballard and Martin
Disappointing with Prowse. She's real good. Will we get a first round pick?

Tough on Ballard. She was good pre-knee. Like, quite good.

Do we?

We have one of the best players in the comp. We have another group of 6-8 top flight players who are all thereabouts good enough to be all Australians. They need to show up to the next preseason fit, though.

We need the rest of the quality on the field to get better, that's our hole. Unfortunately we are now losing 2 of the most promising of that next group to trades, and we're not (well I'm not) seeing Charlton, Tonon, All the Irish ladies, Kustermann, Ewings, Muller, etc look like they are going to be anything more than mid-range in competence. Like, they're all... ok.

The effect is that's good enough to limp into finals, but probably not to really contend.

How do we crack that? I wonder if the new coach can convince them to not do whatever the hell happened this offseason.

We are going to do a bizarre deal with GWS where we trade our future 1st for pick 21 and 39

Richmond will trade for pick 1, not us

Obviously not that inspiring on first glance, but realistically we should be expecting to finish top 6 next year so our first rounder then will be out in the teens anyway.

They'll be lucky to make finals if they rock up to the season in the same condition as this year - especially if they don't turn the list over

I'm not convinced. We lost some crucial players to injury this year, probably underperformed on our talent level.

I think we'll still be there or thereabouts... just probably not a premiership threat.

You have to ask what is happening in our AFLW program .
Our best young mid and only one and now our only young KPP player that showed can play both Forward and defence are wanting to leave .
While we pay large $ contracts to players showing no inclination to get reasonably fit or committed to raise their skill levels
Just have to feel for new coach coming on board this sinking ship.

Not sure what is happening but it seems from the outside that our program was running on fumes and we went hard this year - only to fall short. This smacks of Doc dropping the ball on selection and fitness requirements

It happens in many clubs that strive for that 1 more year

The players are allowed to test the market - but there must be more to it.

You can get away with a lack of fitness if your KPIs are up but when fingers get pointed you must respond

Not sure what to do but elite standards must be the messaging to the players. You want the cash then show you are serious

Youd hope the standards at Brisbane will be implemented here.

With Prowse leaving that now makes it 4 first round picks to choose to depart the club (Gore, McKinnon, Prowse and Boileau)… off the back of Port grabbing the best SA talent for multiple years and the stupid drafting of Yvonne Bonner in that 2023 supplemental draft, it is overall just unforgivable list management.

In any other football team losing 4 first rounders and not topping up your talent list for a long period would mean Harper’s position would be totally untenable but he seems to just keep on going on year after year with unlimited powers.

I get what you're saying but Gore was crap and was delisted by Fremantle after two seasons with no further AFLW interest, and McKinnon can't get on the park

The other aspect of our poor management is our massively lack of depth where we carry 6-10 players every week.
We have just delisted 2 players alongside losing two first round pick young players.
I think a poster listed almost 8 players that could easily be delisted.
Cromulant thought my description of sinking ship a little harsh .
But apart from being obvious we are no longer feared anymore and scraped into finals we have lost as stated above 2 of our future stars and standards have dropped and look like rolling around many older players that nowhere required skill level.
