Big shoutout to Ali Drennan. Thought she had her best game of the year, particularly to 3QT, one of the few making reliably good decisions in a sea of chaotic choices or poor execution.

Only watch the last 15 minutes. As the vibe on pages 2-4 of this thread suggest, most of the rest of the game was pretty grim.

Nah. Watch the first three quarters as well. It's ugly viewing though.
But it makes the final quarter sweeter. And in retrospect, shows why we were still in it after playing so bad. It wasn't Saints beating us, we were in many respects always out playing them, then shooting ourselves in the footy.

Daisy's Press conference.
Just watched the replay, great last qtr. Lu Painter is a weapon, Dalgleish is switched on and Ella is Ella. The women certainly enjoy their footy more than the blokes, they were dancing on clouds after the win. Good on em.

Was at the game, my second AFLW game after watching the Bulldogs thrash the Blues a few years ago. Crowd was better than expected as the weather looked dicey, but overall it was a fun day, good atmosphere, and rewarded with a stunning comeback from our girls! I'll need to learn all their names etc, but nice to watch an Eagles outfit not currently anchored to the bottom. Indeed first time watching us win live since 2019 believe it or not.

Nicky Dal throwing a tanty after a rough day? I’m shocked.
So figured i'd have a look at the team stats for the game, see how it looked from that perspective.
We dominated in a lot of the statistics though there were some that stood out.
+14 inside 50s - We get plenty of opportunities going forward but pairing that with a 34.2% efficiency when we get it in there needs a lot of work, was worse than our current average efficiency.
+45 Handballs - We were WAY to handball happy in the first 3 qtrs. Burned so many good plays by putting the ball at our own teammates feet.
+22 Hitouts - destroyed the oppo again in the ruck, though the clearances were pretty even for the most part, Saints a couple extra per qtr.
+12 Marks, +1 Marks i50, +12 Contested Marks - This one actually surprised me as I thought the Saints were much better marking the ball but that didn't seem to be the case over the course of the match.
One thing the oppo did well was put a heap of pressure on, the saints laid 92 Tackles for the match. For the girls to be close enough to come back under that kind of heat is well done to them.
Someone needs to start on that statue for Ella Roberts, girl is a mad lad.
