Age in user profile

Can anyone tell me why so many people dont put their age in their profile. Is it they feel they wont be taken seriously on certain issues. for eg a 45 year old discussing modern day music or drug culture, and say an 18 year old discussing football in the 70's or 60's. Can any of you psychologists or like, help me out on this one?

I think you will find it is because people know that, any info they give out about themselves, will be used against them, by certain unstable posters.

Don't give the snipers ammo, including photos, as a lot of posters have found out.

Yeah I understand what you say, but I dont see how giving out your age can be used against you. I am 39 next month and wish I was 15 again (which is the age I act).

It is probably a stupid question anyway, because on forums people can be whoever they want to be and so they can put any age they like.

Well after being a member of this forum for a long time, I have seen this happen over & over.

Young posters are told they don't know what they are talking about, because they are too young & haven't experience.

Older posters get called silly old farts etc. some examples of how unstable people have used age against people.

Yeah, I've suffered badly from posting my photo and info.

The 'snipers' (well the best of them) worry more about what is posted rather than looks.

I don't remember the exact circumstances, but a long time ago, somebody said something and you looked at their age, and had a go at them about it.

I can't be bothered saying any more about this, but you are a joke.

i agree - the use of someones age as an argument factor is totally irrelevent

i havent seen it used by any posters on here.

The reason i dont have my age on there is that quite simply coulnot be ****ed putting it up

Some people can't put their birthdays in - for some reason the system won't put a DOB earlier than 31/12/69 in their profile.
I was born in 1970, so my DOB fits. But if I was a year older, I couldn't.

Another strange thing is that, when updating profiles, it says that entering what team you barrack for is "required" but quite a few people don't have it on their profiles.
