IRC = Internet Relay Chat
mIRC is a popular program used to access IRC. IRC contains many chatrooms, or "channels", where you can talk to many people from all over the world, and then you can talk one on one in private conversation windows, like msn.

it has been around for years - even DECADES...

started getting really popular mid 90s, some servers are still popular like austnet...oz.org has dropped off a lot.

its very old school but has provided me with many a laugh and some fantastic friends over the years

We were trying to make it mandatory but there is a bug in vBulletin that means extra fields do not appear on the registration page when they are made mandatory.
