For anyone that is interested. Not sure if I will go, depends on if I find anything exciting to do between now and then :p

Not a lot newTBH from the night. Club made 50k profit after it demolished the RD stand. Before that they had a tidy 1.2 mill profit. Next year they are budgeting for a 200k profit. This is due to the economic crisis and the clubs lower capacity.

Mentioned that we make 650k a home game which is pretty decent. We also only onsell 500 tickets per game to the oppostion. This will increase once the new stand is built.

They are doing a feasibility study into part three which will involve renovation from the Browlow all the way to the hickey stands. It will bring the capacity to 38k.

Also on Grand stands, we paid the last 400k off on the Hickey stand so we have no more owing. This means they paid 3mil in just 4 years. Massive effort.

Eric Nicholls won the Reg Hickey award for services to football. Those who follow local footy would know him. Coached Bell Park, Ammos and Drysdale as well as commentated over 300 games of local footy. Chipped in with a reserves BnF and some senior games at the club as well.

Col Hutchison and 2 other ex statisticians also go recognised for their contributions to the club.

Bomber, Harley, and the players are away, so they were not there. Although they showed videos of our new blokes, but they were the same we have seen here.

Balmey rated this batch of draftees very highly. Said that Mitch Brown was a fair way off and would play Key Forward. He said Gillies is a chance to play this year if his form is good in the VFL. Said the fans would love Motlop, however he needs more shoulder surgery so we may not see the best of him until late in 09. He also loved Taylor Hunts dash.

Showed some highlights of the Rookies and said he rated Ranga highly. Mentioned that he still has a fair bit of work to do though. He said that Varcoe was unlucky not to be drafted in the National draft. He said that his knee put people off, and that he hopes that it comes on well.

He made some interesting comments on Bryn Weadon and Tom Allwright. He said he expected them to be very good VFL footballers next year because they already have the body for it. Exciting prospect that.

Cook said the cats own the Geelong Football club name, however now trade under the Geelong cats. This is because they did a survey as said people did not want to lose the words Geelong and Cats, so they put them together.

A "disgruntled" fan mentioned about losing prismall . The club said they tried really hard to keep him at the club and thought him doing his knee may mean he would stay. Balme said they offered him a fair deal with a few years and he rejected it. Essendon offered him 3 years at double what Geelong had offered. While Balme said that Prismall left for senior football, you could tell that he was eluding to prissa chasing a bit of $$.

He said Geelong thought he was worth about pick 25 and that they tried to get a fair deal done. Essendon only offered pick 39, so they had to take it. They mentioned they were gonna play hard ball and put pris in the draft and take him, but they thought they woud do the right thing by him. Balme alluded to without naming names, Lovett. Said they were chasing him but TPP didn't allow them to get him.

Thats about all really, any Q's feel free to ask :)

very nice rizzo. wish we got lovett he would of provided some much needed speed

It's a funny one with Lovett. Sure he would enhance our team on paper but it's the off field stuff that may have a detrimentle effect on the club. Same thing goes if we had've picked up Cousins in the draft, on paper it looks great but if it doesn't work it could really hurt.

Cant really blame Prismall for leaving even if part of the reason was for more money. he had a dreadfull run at geelong as he was kept out of the team because we currently have 4-5 top midfielders and when ever he did break in he would cop an injury (broken arm, knee) I think at that point and having been in the system for a while I would be looking for a new start so why not take a longer contract and some money so if the knee goes again at least I have a bit more financial security.

The Geelong board version of Zig and Zag? :p

Winty!!!! That could be taken as a serious insult given the charges that Zig pleaded guilty to.

1. I hate this Geelong Cats sh*t. We are Geelong Football Club, the nickname is The Cats, thats it.

2. We change logo, and lose the flag, so now i associate this "new" logo we have had for the year with a losing culture. We should change it again .

3. Pris was right to go, as much as we would have liked to have kept him about sadly he wants gametime and he will never get what he wants at this club.
Mind you if a player wants to leave, let them go. Id hate to have someone at our club who ever even thought about leaving to play elsewhere.

Didn't Moons tell his manager to look at offers from other clubs at the end of the 2006 season?
