Anyone else listened to Sunday Roast this morning?????? Andrew Jarman was on to give his opinion on both the Crows and the Power and boy did he give McLeod a rocket. He said McLeod is playing for himself and is not playing for the team. He is not playing for the jumper and he should have a goot hard think about where his footy is taking him in the next couple of year. He said that youngsters have been performing well but its the senior core of players that has been very disappointing this year. He said of the senior players Ricciuto is the only one who can hold his head high the rest should pull their finger out.

Bloke is passionate, you got to give him that and he actually did talk a lot of sense for a change.

EDIT: He also said that Carey has been giving his heart and soul to the football club and has copped a lot of unwarranted flak.

AJ can make some stupid comments at time, but can't really disagree with this. I want the old Macca back, the one which was determined rather than disintersted, broke games open with his blistering speed & magic rather than the indecsive fumbling one... :(

AJ is right on the money and maybe it is what Mcleod neds to get into the play a bit more he really has been pretty lack luster this year and it's not how the AFC or the supporter's want him playing, he is a star and needs to get in a nd have a go;)

Exactly, at least someone else, whoever it is!

I know he's paid a whole lot of money and the passion, inspiration and workrate should come from within, but it's obvious to everyone Macca is struggling and I just think Ayresy isn't getting the best out of him. Macca looks mentally jaded, he's lacking that spark, and sure, I'd like him to take it upon himself and rediscover it, but by geez, personally, it's my opinion that the coach has to get the best out of his players.

And it's not as if Macca has been absolutely awful either, he's just not being that matchwinner/gamebreaker we know he can be. Maybe it's drawing a long bow to blame the coach, but I think he should be at the very least partly responsible. Oh well, my 2 cents.

Andrew should know all about players putting their own interests ahead of the club. He did exactly the same thing in 96 when he refused to play for the club, putting himself first and us last.

At least Macca is showing up.

Jars is the last bloke to be singling out players for having a bad attitude.

As for McLeod ... what can we do to fire him up? he's played in the midfield. He's played at half back. I'd say drop him but would that really help?

What can we do? Would a change to a smarter gameplan provide the challenge he needs?

At least he has admitted that he was wrong. Which is more than I can say for a few others.

Jerome, At the end of the day if you remove aside who said it, the fact is that whatever was said is spot on.

Turn it up.

At least Andrew Jarman can say that he always got the most out of his talent and his body, regardless of his questionable attitude at times.

Andrew McLeod has been going at halfpace for no apparent reason since winning the Michael Tuck medal in the 2003 Wizard Wok GF.

Not quite correct. He was leading the brownlow, up to the end of the first half of last season.

From the time he had that little operation till now, his form has been very ordinary.
The noticable thing he doesn't try and use his pace (if he has any) to break away from opponents or run the lines.
Perhaps its medical, perhaps its personal, perhaps its the coach, perhaps its a combination of all of the above - but I still believe his form or lack of, will have a huge bearing on who coaches AFC next season.

He almost got enough votes to win it all up - how many did he unfairly take off Ricciuto?!! - doesn't mean he wasn't rubbish.

The umps had a bad case of A. McLeod syndrome last year.

 Cmon, you don't really believe that the umps were wrong in giving Macca votes in games where he was clearly amongst our best players?

No Maccas form slump came in the 2nd half of last season.

Beat me to it. If there's one player who should know all about selfishness, it's Andrew Jarman.

So he should know it when he sees it. He's 100% correct.

Never said he was'nt spot on. Its obvious to everyone that Macca is not in form atm.

I just cant take AJ seriously when he bags players.

He's done well this year with North.
But its hard to be taken seriously, when you have played the clown for such a long time.
He obviously is a good thinker of the game, but needs to accumulate some "credibility" points first.

No disagreement here.

I was surprised to hear Dermott Brereton say it was the first time he'd seen McLeod play unaccountable football.

The same Andrew Jarman who when we beat Collingwood to make the finals in 1993, had a trainer rush him a telephone so he could go "live" to a radio station before he celebrated with his teammates?

He's certainly an authority on the subject.

2 Magarey medals, 2 Premierships, 5 Fos Williams Medals, 2 North B&Fs , 1 Norwood B&F. 2 All Australian jumpers.1 year coaching SAFA for one premieship, and this year has coached a team to 4 wins from 6 games that most 'experts' expected to finish last. I don't think "credibility" is a problem.
Yes, he was wrong in 1996 and yes he admitted it. Something the other party involved in the incident has never done!

The problem is people remember him as a showman who was at times being stupid with his antics. However, that should not detract of how good a player he was and how much he really knows about the game.

He sometimes does those stupid rumours that hardly ever are correct BUT I love listening to him when he talks footy because he tells it like it is and genuinely loves the footy club.

And in all my time following football, only Laurence Angwin had quicker hands.

Tell me you did not mention the "A" word. You know that forbidded in this forum :p

By far the best pair of hands we ever had at the club. AJ was a freak.

Funny how ex champion players of the club such as A Jarman & C McDermott who both were retired on unsavory terms with the club are very quick to put the knife in when we are struggling to win games.

Not the first time AJ & Bones have have done so & i guess it wont be the last.
