Alberton Swamprats Season Thread 2007

First round of the preseason comp was played today. The Swamprats put aside their premiership celebrations and put the Bombers back in their hangar with a three goal win. After all the noise made by the Windy Hill Windbags in the last fortnight they are left with a fairly large humble pie to consume.

On behalf of the backs it needs to be said that we kept the Bombers to 14 scoring shots and, had our forwards kicked straight, the margin would have sent the Windbags running to their sports psychologists.

Atleast it's only pre-season, I've got time to get in some more practice before the season starts.

Swamprats went down by 6 points to the Gumbies last night in the Final of the preseason comp. We led till late in the third quarter. Disappointing second half. Congrats must go to the Gumbies.

Very good win to start the the season off! Santos was fantastic at CHF. One of his best ever matches. Toots succesfully held DaveW to just the couple of touches and 2 goals. The midfield was at its attacking best, running forward and kicking 10 goals between them. The life after Porthos backline stood up exceptionally well with blackdiamond taking over that flank.

Of the inexperienced guys, Arsene and Troy both had their moments. Spadge kicked a goal and Lightning Rod played a great stopping role in the back pocket.

Great start to the year, lets keep it going!
