Just thought I start this the Volume 2 Thread by Asking Swooop what kind of Trade are you thinking off?

Well Dave I'm not sure, i was asking if others felt this was likely we may strike some sort of deal with them.

Though I can't see Sheedy going out of his way to help Collingwood.

They may want to trade out some of their kids for some more experienced, ready made players to get themselves up and running a bit quicker, but i'd have no idea who exactly, or if at all.

I think we might Try and Get 1 of the U-17 Kids but I think Sheedy and GWS asking Price would be too Much.

Something Like 1st Rounder + Fasolo

Did anyone hear the Dale Thomas interview yesterday on 3AW?

l missed the first part, but got on when they asked him...

"Why did you choose Collingwood over GWS (or along those lines)....."

I think there's a v good chance Daisy will go to GWS next year, especially with his improvement he will be offered close to what Gablett was offered.
Even more likely if we win the ship again this year, since he will have paid his debt to collingwood and won't have much unfinished business (unless he wants to stay for a record 5-peat but that is highly unlikely to happen - even if it did he still will have been *part* of the new record.)

I think they'll love him up there and he'll be good for the new club - sort of like Warrick Capper way back for Sydney.

Though I think he is Very Happy at Collingwood and Would love to Stay.

Though the Money he been getting Offered would be very hard to Refuse. I be pissed off if he left but I could see why he would

More players and Sheedy coming out now with some thoughts.

Goddard has stated he will basically be open to offers at the end of his contract in 2012. He said he is loyal and but will look after himself.

Goddard will qualify for free agency too and can play for whomever he wishes in 2013. St.Kilda will offer him a big deal but he'll realise he's unlikely to win a flag with them.

Sheedy has come out and said he'd love to snare Franklin above all other players. Franklin is out of contract at the end of 2012.

Now their is speculation , Taylor Walker & Rhys Palmer are gone then you have Tom Scully and the large offer to Callan Ward.

The more players sign up the better for us.

If we do lose Daisy or Pendles next year, we should load up on Goddard via free agency. We couldn't match the $$, but we can set him up for life after footy and a shot at a premiership.

This, we will have the room in the cap and we should throw a lot of money at him that he cant refuse, while we are still a premiership chance and he would like the idea of becoming a premiership player but I have a feeling Carlton will do what they do the best and that is cheat the cap and get him some how.

Heard that interview as well and Dwayne Russell was the one that asked the question and he definitely worded it that way. Thomas made no move to correct him on the wording and then provided reasons as to why he'd be staying, take out of that what you will.

Somebody I think you've read this the wrong way. Thomas is currently in negotiations with the club on a new deal and each and every bloke that left for GC deferred negotiations until the end of 2010. Unless talks break down, which the chances are minute considering the way things are atm, I'd expect him to sign within the next month.

OK doesn't sound like GWS are after him much anyway. But if they did offer him about 750,000 p.a. ... but they better hurry by sound of it.

Not a bad hitlist of players there. I think GWS would be wise to get some promising players that are looking for opportunity and been in the system awhile. Players like McCarthy from us. If you could get half a dozen of them plus some bigger names you'd be doing well for yourself.

I definitely dont think Thomas is going, I think he really loves Collingwood and what it has done for him. I'd be more worried about our mid range players who get out of contract. GWS would want some fairly good talents that can develop further to fill up the remaining numbers after they get all there stars, and with Collingwood being the benchmark, why not choose from the greatest bunch.

GWS needs godard. There is nothing left for him at the saints.

I dont think daisy or pendles will go. collingwood will look after them some way or another.

Be very intresting though
While he didn't rule it out completely, Goddard sounded pretty clear in saying he wants to stay at the Saints even after he finishes playing. It sounds unlikely he'd go to GWS next season unless they offered him a massive deal.

Goddard has said he "would love to stay a Saint for life" which is shorthand for "better make any offer pretty damned good".

This is not unusual to Goddard and Collingwood players have said the same thing. Agents drive these statements. It's a bargaining tool.

That's exactly what they will do, offer him a massive deal.

Have it on pretty good authority that Dale Thomas' contract extension will be completed in the next 14 to 21 days and he'll remain a Pie for the next three years (similar to Marc Murphy with us). Will be announced the week you play us, cheeky buggers!

Source: Best mate's Dad who has been a Collingwood member for 30+ years and knows pretty much everyone at the club (he's introduced me to a large number of them, first name basis so reliable).

Congrats to you all.

Would be great if true.

I was fairly confident he would sign, but ive been slightly worried that he will sign for a 1 year contract like Pendles, which doesn't really allay any fears

Yeah not sure if this is the actual case (I'm not a lawyer) But players who have made a commitment to GWS have to put contract negotiations on "hold" with their current clubs or they risk legal consequences when it becomes apparent that they weren't negotiating "in good faith".
