I just watched the replay again. Changed my mind. No way is that suspendable. FMD his push starting him in that direction. No way can his push propel him 5 meters. Lynch cleaned him up fairly - that is all.

If the Aints player was concerned about his safety after the push then he would have either braced for contact or looked at what was coming - he did neither.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... The AFL media are absolute muppets.

They're jumping up and down about that, yet Clangerfield raises his elbow and crickets. The afl media are a collective joke. Moronic carnts with agendas.

100% correct rant over

I said when it happened f me could have killed the guy.
After seen this I know why i felt like that. Stupid stupid Mansel another cowardly act we are sure pilling them up.

FFS - when did you start watching football? certainly not in the 80s, 90s, or even the 2000's.

Tony Lockett hit Peter Cavens face with a truck & the guy didn't die. Sitting around typing that Mansell could have "killed a guy" for a small shove is some of the most hyperbole nonsense i've seen in here, or any teams forum. And that includes the Carlton board.

This shit happens in the NBA & all sports for that matter. It's nonsense that our sport seems to be the only one suspending people over it. The game has NFI anymore what it is. We are a contact sport with softer rules and suspensions than non contact sports.

The NBA have 82 game seasons. The AFL 24

Jokic, playing a non contact sport- Basketball - got Suspended just ONE GAME for this shove.

Mansell just got 3 weeks for this one

Seriously, wtf are we doing anymore?

The Masell defence should be that he did not push the player to cause any type of hard or collision, but trying to push the player HOLDING HIM away so he could actually contest for the ball.

I have watched the incident quite a few times & i just don't see that much malice or violence in this .Its a pathetic ruling

Don't think the CFL will see breaking a hold as a reason to get off. Houli got 6:weeks for swinging his arm back to break a hold.

You can’t change the rules part way through a season they had opportunity in the preseason to set a precedent not four rounds in (including zero)
They're not changing the rules, rough conduct has always been an option for the MRO to charge someone.

This is a case that will set a precedent moving forward as to what is and isn't acceptable when engaged in a wrestle for position in a marking contest.

If Mansell gets rubbed out then it effectively renders wrestling for position as illegal, which it should never be.

If there's a hold which everyone does by the way shouldn't the umpires rule instead of an act like that? I mean the WC dude should have gotten 4 or 5 for his which would have stopped this nonsense. If the carlton dh didn't shove Lynch whom was innocent he wouldn't gotten 1 week. The cfl and the umpires cause all this crap if they weren't so corrupt and rules adhered properly this things would not be happening. Where is the duty of care in all this. Deliberately doing something like this is cowardly and in your excuse the saints player had his eyes on the ball at all times where mansells does not.

So they’re essentially using rough conduct make a push illegal and punish an outcome. Might not be changing the rules but they sure are changing what they interpret.

They had ample opportunity to fix their error before this incident and should’ve addressed it in preseason not 4 rounds in.

It’s bs. No other sport in the world changes things on the fly.

Let’s not even get started on how Dangerfields elbow is rough conduct. Or lynch in a marking contest. Utter BS

This is so typical the AFL.

I'm not surprised at all. They have absolutely no idea how to handle anything.

The club has to do something about this. What the actual ****.
All clubs were warned previously that such actions would be looked at more seriously.
So we don't have a leg to stand on if we go down previous cases path(Gibney).

Ive seen two more exactly the same yesterday but the player being pushed didnt get concussed. only way to stamp it out is to report every player that does it regardless of the result to the player. But the CFL won't. Too weak for that

The point is that they have used a Richmond player as the precedent when there were many others to use. It’s too good to be true and unless there is less Collingwood and Geelong control at head office we won’t be able to content in the future.!

I had the same thoughts, as Mansell’s response after the contest and whistle was he thought he’d got a free for, hand up, looking at ump and walking back to line up for kick. Mansell broke the hold, pushed him off and then prepared for the front position crumb. Oppo competed for mark from an awkward vulnerable position.

Very different to Gibney Lalor which was just an unnecessary shove - no prior holding, and closer to the contest.

Will be disappointed, but not surprised, if he doesn’t get off.
