His twitter is a fun read, not afraid to voice some strong opinions. I’m sure he’d get some ‘media training’ talks if he was recruited.
Youd almost think that if we picked up bolton then we've written off brayshaw, ainsworth and mallen
Might not be a bad move

Shane Yarran was the exception. Not every indigenous person with a spotty past ends up that way.

I'd rather we back ourselves in to help someone realise their full potential, rather than avoiding anything that might come with a bad smell. It's basically the reason why we avoided Marlion Pickett, even though he has four kids and hasn't had any indiscretions for the past seven years. Believing people can change is a good thing.

And, hopefully, the reason we wouldn't be looking at Bennell is more due to his injuries, rather than some incidents that, really, in the grand scheme of things, are nothing like Shane Yarran's circumstances. With the motivation that he only has one chance, I'm certain, if he can get his body right, he won't make any mistakes.

Apologies if my original post was construed as racist, as I wasn’t picking Yarran as he was indigenous, more that he had a history. He was also the most extreme example.

Freo also picked him as he looked to have turned the corner and thought he maybe a solid player that could help push for a flag.

If you want an example closer to home look at Murray Newman, who we couldn’t help enough to get him to AFL level of personal commitment.

For the all the players who spent time in jail or had significant off field issues before or during their AFL career, I can only think of Pickett and Andrew Krakouer as players who made worthwhile contributions.

Here it is, the summary you didn’t know you needed.

2 First rounders for JK :moustache:

haha the melts on the Freo board would be hilarious at the moment.

This just proves you get your trades done.

Looking more like Brad Hill stays another year.

great for their rotten culture having a player forced to stay who wants out

also hilarious listening to freo folk claim they are trading masters like its some sort of cunning statergy..except their trading 'power' results from being a bottom 4 club who each year has their best players wanting out

Doig Medal top 10 2019

Nat Fyfe – 272

Michael Walters – 238

Bradley Hill – 207

David Mundy – 186

Ed Langdon - 155

Lost 2 of their top 5 this year in Langdon and BHill plus obviously last year Lachie Neale 2x B&F winner. As their former coach would say: "Look, it's not ideal". Now Bell, Carr and Longmuir are back together we will see if they can continue the rebuild.

Lets be honest why would any decent player want to stay at this shi#house football club.
this lot are destined to continue where they belong at the bottom and their supporters deserve more pain and misery :thumbsu:

Whats warners potential in comparison to brayshaw, mallen and ainsworth ?
Also would you take garcia, prior or warner if all were available at our first pick?

So here is my take on Brayshaw, MAllen and Ainsworth

Ainsworth is probably not going to make it. Post finger operation,I had some optimism. That dissipated as the season went on and his ball drop still looks flawed and it translated into poor kicking. Not always, but almost 100% when under pressure.

MAllen looks like he only recently converted to the midfield and not sure his speed in decision making or by hand are going to make the grade. He is out of contract as it stands and it won't be a surprise if he gets de-listed .

Brayshaw is interesting. Although by foot he is slow, by hand he is faster and he has shown footy smarts. I would hope we give him an extension and see what he can give. He continued to improve during the season and out of the three mids, I see the most upside in him.

Out of those, I would take Garcia first. He was a second rounder prior to his ACL so we can afford to wait a year. Pretty even with Prior and Warner. In terms of needs, I see more need for a midfielder than a HBF. That said, I would be happy taking both..

When a agent comes out and questions the injury management of a club publicly all is not well at the club.

He's nowhere near AFL standard.

Maybe but with further developing he looks pretty good to me 23 goals in 15 games in his first season of WAFL is not too bad .. Plus is a good size 186 86 kg and brings pace and energy to the contests ..A fault he does have is he tries to do to much and gets a little greedy for a goal anywhere inside the fifty ..

Isn't Garcia a medium forward? Wouldn't have thought that a type of player we need.

There are many close comparisons between Watson and Jetta. Watson for one is being groomed as Jetta's replacement as a rebounding half back.

Jetta makes mistakea as do all players and more often than I would like. Compared to Hurn who rarely makes mistakes Jetta regularly produces a clanger that costs goals. He just hits targets more than most and looks good doing it but lets not put him up there as being pefect.

For what its worth the indigenous boys rate Franky as up there as the best of them. The lad can lay a hard tackle too.
Honestly I started this conversation as a bit of a throwaway line. I will put my hand up as one who thought the recruitment of Jetta was a mistake as despite the fact I was a fan of his, I thought he had done nothing for the last couple of years for the swans. I also thought my stand was vindicated with his initial introduction with the eagles. He has now vindicated his recruitment because he has established himself as probably the best attacking kicker in the AFL and has learnt to adapt his strengths and weaknesses. Watson on the other hand, was not selected through the draft immediately because of flaws in his game and when he was selected as a rookie, has taken time to adapt. He has pace, height and skill but what has been holding him back has been his decision making and his inability to hit a target consistently. The results of this are often goals from the opposition. The difference between the two are immense. When Jetta has the ball most Eagles supporters are confident (as much as you can be with anyone in the game). On the other hand, when Watson gets the ball you have your heart in your mouth. The mere fact that Watson as a 24 year old (or near) has yet to establish himself, speaks volumes on the difference between the two. Again. I say I will be delighted if he can correct his flaws and make the grade but comparing the two is ridiculous at the moment. Obviously the selectors feel the same.
