But

  • Every other applicant has had at least some behind the scenes exposure, Jabba has not.
  • Jabba did not answer my follow up questions
  • His application showed he does not yet understand how many things in the league work
I think even joke submissions should be put forward

For all 4 candidates - which themed round would you like to introduce to the SFA first, and why?
I'm unsure if the Pride Round is still going ahead this season but I think it would be a good addition on an annual basis.

I think having too many themed rounds can be a bit tacky but I'd like some integration with Mobbs' SOFU concept if he's still running it next season, perhaps the SFA's version of a Country Round where we go play in these far-flung venues. Like I said in my application I'm big on incorporating some more of the lore and 'physical' locations of the league.

And that maintains/improves the integrity of the process how? That’s how the US ended up with an Oompa Loompa as POTUS.
If it’s what the people want than so be it

I do not wish to be mollycoddled into picking between 3 candidates with basically the same woke centrist pitch

Open the gates otherwise the every man and woman of sweet will have no choice but to take the power back by force.

Beware the working man.

Oi don’t steal my idea

Good to know - I certainly agree with themed round after themed round. In my head it looks something like 4-5 themes maximum, that rotate in every second season. 2 per year is probably enough imho, excluding local rivalries

To clarify further, Baz specifically has helped me along my journey in the SFA. It's probably fair to say he wasn't my biggest fan when I started but despite that he has always been there to help me when I needed it. He has strong values and is able to remain impartial. He has taught me a lot along the way, which he didn't have to. He accepted me as a Simmer when I didn't think he would and he has defended me and my integrity as a simmer many times, even in this very thread. Obviously all of this stuff has happened behind closed doors but that's why I'm trying to help others see the poster that he is. KP clearly has the runs on the board already and no doubt cares, his efforts in designing a new Sim from scratch clearly demonstrates this. He also has some great ideas in his pitch and for this reason those two would be the clear standouts at this point. Bangers time will come. He is invested and a great contributor with some ideas but realistically he's only been around 3? Seasons. He could do some more growing over the next 3 seasons and really make a fist of the next campaign. Dav has been around a long time but as has been pointed out, his commitment is in question and that's a big no as far as I'm concerned.
So in other words, much of your support of Baz comes from behind the scenes stuff and how much you like him, rather than what he has actually said in his pitch?

You don't need to tell me of all people about the sort of person he is because I know that haha . I would confidently wager I know him better than anyone else on this forum does.

But if it came from someone other than me, I'm sure Baz himself would agree that it's negligent to ignore pitches/questions and admit that his bid quite simply hasn't been properly fleshed out. Also as someone who genuinely loves the league, I'd hope he'd understand that it's not right to just vote for someone based on how much you like them (putting it out there- I really like him as a friend, I have met Dav and that was a fun night out, and don't know the other two personally at all) . If we're not taking into account their vision, what they want to deliver, and even if they even want to do it (the latter part is key, I think the fact that he doesn't really want to do it showed in the half baked pitch, compared to other things that he's had his heart in)

As for it being a two horse race between them, it's indeed KP's bid that has impressed me most so far, to the point where I've struggled to even question him much to date, but I'll think of something . It's day 1 of this thread afterall.

In the interests of reducing how much we repeat ourselves, can you share the follow-up questions/answers , not just for Jabba, but for the rest of them too?
(unless it was incorporated in their spiels aready)

I tend to agree. I think Rivalry Round and Heritage Round don't need to be separate rounds in all honesty, there aren't enough strong rivalries in the league to really sustain interest and you can still have rival teams play off against eachother in Heritage Round matches.

I can see why this application wasn’t seriously considered.

Barrybran what’s the rationale behind shortening the season to only 13 weeks? We’re still quite a short season at 16 weeks and it allows for additional rounds/heritage rounds/rivalry rounds etc to be played out.

If you can tell me how to makea 13-team league work I'm all ears.

13 teams locks us into 12 games or 24 games for each team, meaning a 13-week season with byes, a 26-week season with byes or some double headers. I do have a model for a 14-game season but it would require double headers to work. I could probably extrapolate this over 16 or 17 weeks but you're still looking at double headers to get things done.

13 weeks (plus finals) isn't the end of the world. The season is already too long but the current format fits the calendar nicely (all teams play each other three times in a calendar year).

Barry has won my support and he deserves it. It's important to note that there were several supporters of NaturalDisaster's campaign last time round helping him out and every candidate will have their supporters. From memory a couple of these candidates were involved in that process.

Having said this, I wouldnt be at all disappointed if KP got the nod.

An Oompa Loompa in charge of the SFA would make for good content and keep things interesting though. It's just the sort of crazy thing that works for this league.

It's why I reject the idea that Bangers isn't suitable simply because of some priors. This place thrives on being a bit of a wild wild west and eccentric personalities. It doesn't need to be sterilized/sanitized etc.

Your handling of his application has been nothing short of putrid, the poor bloke never stood a chance. Absolutely disgraceful and shows this isn't a fair process.

Based on what we have seen in here to date , I get the impression that you support him more than he supports himself , and that you want him to win more than he himself does. I don’t think the ND/mang analogy is a good one as both genuinely wanted the responsibility and both genuinely fleshed out their pitches.

Only he knows how much he supports himself. But it's up to him to convey that to the others.
Perhaps he hasn't put enough emphasis on this.
