Thousands of Hawthorn and Geelong members also missed out, as the AFL limited competing clubs to 26,000 tickets.

The almost 75,000 other tickets are split between corporate packages, the other 14 clubs, the MCC and AFL members.

Really. This is woeful.

sponsors also feature heavily in there i believe. Even 5AA giving away theat many tickets was dissapointing -

Supporters of the 2 teams should fill at least half the stadium - not corporate packages and etc. Its a joke, and a stain on our great sport.

Welcome to a world driven by capatalism and the almighty dollar.

It's both good and bad and this is the negative.

Ironically your far more of a chace to get a ticket if you're an AFL member with a supporter package for your team than you are being a member of your club.

They just don't allocate nearly enough tickets to the compeating teams.

Without sponsors and corporates the game would not be profesional, or we the average member would be paying a heck of a lot more. The AFL is an elite competition, try getting a ticket to NBA finals or FA cup Final.

But I tend to feel sorry for those members who pay top membership, attend all games and miss out.

Without members, the Clubs wouldn't exist.

Without Supporters, there would be no value in Corporate Sponsorship.

It is a disgrace; and part of the reason why the atmosphere at the Grand Final has apparently died in the arse of late.

The two competing teams should fill up at least 50%, probably 75%, of the stadium.

Half of the corporates couldn't care less about Footy anyway; kinda like the Members at Adelaide Oval when a Test is on - the busiest part of the members is the tents behind the Stands.

Use to sit in the Medalion Club (even though we are AFL members) at the dome because mum's work had 4 seats and noone wanted the Crows games but us.

Someone behind me actually asked the person they were with "what does it mean when the ball goes through the big stick and the little stick?"

Everyone spent the whole game getting up and down going to the resteraunt, only good thing was the view on the 2nd level, it's perfect.

I don't want to think about what would happen if the Crows were to get in the grand final... I'd get tickets though as I'm a gold member, but would probably end up stuck on level 4. There are lots of Geelong and Hawthorn fans saying that while they're happy they got seats, they're not very good ones!

But, I shouldn't complain.

Really the whole thing is a joke.

Not so much members, although we are important. But what attracts sponsors is market penetration, ie how many people watch the Crows on TV or even take a slight interest. Membership is only a small part of the overall market penetration a club has. Membership dollars are important for club revenue but sponsors look to TV ratings and surveys to asses how much sponsorship value a club offers.

Why do you think us and Collingwood went to Dubai??? At Adidas's request.

Yes, you should.

Prime example. I go on business trips sometimes to Sydney. This guy we meet, he wouldnt have gone to a AFL minor round game in his life.

But he has been to the last 3 Grand Finals.

Its ridiculous that each club gets 1000 tickets to the GF. even 500 sounds to much, the clubs would just sell them as packages to travel companies anyway and make a small profit.

Actually fans of both teams at least have a semi decent allocation to the Cup final. Unlike here where all teams in the comp get an allocation, now that's a joke. All public tickets should be split 50-50 between the members of the qualified teams.

I do believe that some of the clubs sell some of their tickets back to AFL to be distributed to the competing clubs, and it is possible for those clubs supporters to purchase other teams packages. When I went in '05 I think we had a Port Adelaide package.

My uncle has the top Port membership and went to the GF last year. His Priority 1 status for GF tickets had him (and my two cousins) sitting in the double-lettered rows of the top tier.

One of my mates went to the GF last year. Bought tickets from Port Adelaide, no membership and had better seats than that. Paid a premium but still got them. If any of us wanted to go we could of.
