Greetings,
Every so often I like to start a rumor or "urban legend" and see how far it goes. Sometimes, after a few months, I get it back to me in on the internet with extra crap added on like, "I swear this is true. My cousin knows a guy who...."
Anyway I invented a rumor that is spreading pretty well in the States, and I would appreciate it if some of you could plant the seed on your fine continent.
THE RUMOR: Until 1994, Mattel made all of their Barbie doll hair by bleaching real hair from DEAD PEOPLE. They paid morgues, funeral homes, medical directors and coroners $1.00 per pound to send them samples. Real, naturally blonde hair fetched $2.00 per pound. They were sued, and in a secret closed court hearing, it was decided that (although no laws were broken) Mattel would henceforth have to start manufacturing "artificial" hair from nylon or some other plastic dirivitive. This in exchange to keep the "truth" about Barbie hair from being disclosed. Since that time, the price of Barbie dolls has doubled as a direct result of this additional manufacturing cost.
Once again, I'd appreciate it if some of the more freakish of you could spread that around. If there is anything you would like me to get going around in the US, just let me know. Thanks in advance & Peace,
Mooster
