sometimes you only appreciate something when you don't have it any more.

Class act Mackie...and has been a wonderful servant of the GFC...

Gun over many years and has played well again this year. suspect this might be his last year, but if he wants to go on, then so be it.

If Mackie goes again - and while I figure he'll be not go on - his form is not poor enough to be an automatic out...

He could get 300 next year. 269 currently...gets another 12 or so games this year....

Very doable.. would be epic for knots on cotton

Thought he was done last year but has got back to form this year. With Stewart and Tuohy playing well has allowed Mackie to play his role to more effect. At this stage he should play next year but they should wait till the end of the year to make the decision.
 
I thought he was cooked and would struggle this season. Happy to have been proven wrong at this stage. Interesting to see what happens going forward, does he go out when still contributing or go one 1 year too many potentially?

I know what I'd do. Take the guaranteed 300k income (and probably the last year in my life I'd earn that) and risk form loss / being dropped.

He doesn't look like he's crawling to the finish line if you ask me.
 
If this form holds up till seasons end (including finals) then I'd be putting another contract on the table.
Has been very good so far and has held his own still.

Let's be honest we'd all do the same. And the competitive ego that any player who makes the top level must have would make sure they backed themselves to go well next year as well... but depends on if the club wants him to go around next year as well.
 
I'm probably his biggest supporter on this board but as well as he has played this year, given our depth in defensive stocks, I'd be inclined to suggest he goes out while still playing well. That might mean he goes somewhere else and does a year or two with a transition into coaching. I'd be OK with that.

Always loved Mack. He has been steadfast his whole career. Ball skills were always arrow accurate, even before clarkson dreamt of the ball keeping style. The clarkson Mackie model.
I'd like to know the stats over his career as to percentage delivery accuracy.
Gutsy for a stick
His sledging should have history stamped on it.
Remember he was kicked from a final and took it bravely and forged ahead.
Have and will always hold him in high regard.
Worthy of one more year due to his 17 season alone. Hope he finishes well and gets top 5 b&f for gfc.
Go on scotty dont have a third player playing his 300th elsewhere. Make Mack our 5th 300 at geelong

Thought that he and Domsy stood up very well when the chips were down today and big reason why we won. Needed be perfect in the last and not let them kick any goals and we did that. Remiss of me not to mention HT either, gained control when he swung into defence.
 
Mackie excellent again today.

What a gun!
