Andrew McDoigall has been named at full forward.

What do u think are the chances of Woosha giving him the full 4 quarters there? For the eagles to get right back up there it needs to be done. Leave him there and let Cox do most of the ruck work. Cox has been brilliant this year in Gardiner's absence and should be rewarded with 3/4 of the game, with a Seaby doing the other 1/4 but no more. (By that I mean the last 5 mins of every quarter)

This will allow McDougall to play the full game at full forward where he is the best option. Matera, Sampi and co can rove anything he doesn't get a hold of and the so called poor link in the eagles game will be on its way to recovery. If Travis Gaspar can stay fit, he's more than capable of holding down CHF and all of a sudden there is some height in the eagles so-called tiny forward line.

Is there any chance of him paying a full game at FF this week against a lacklustre Tiger backline who would struggle?

I doubt McDougall will play ruck as they brought Seaby into the team. I hope he plays well andi do think they'll leave him at FF. If he doesnt perform this week he will probably get dropped so that should get him going

Yeah he should stay down there, but he needs to do more or atleast make a contest and force the ball to ground so the 2 lil jets can get it

McDougall has been given a LOT of time to prove his worth, and I'm not sure how long the eagles coaching staff will persist with him. Their patience must be running dry by now. Staker has been taking good grabs, Gaspar is getting better and better at HF each game, and Hansen might be on the verge of senior footy. Doogs needs to lift his game, his development time is over.

McDoogs should have gone to the WAFL this week and Hansen giving the shot at FF. Doogs has had his chances and seems lazy and unsure. His game reminds me of Stevan Jackson.

If McDoogs does not become the player WC expect of him, he may end up like Jackson, another player who had so much potential, but never develop it for it's worth.

Hansen still might get a chance, coz they dont think staker will be able to play coz of his knee. I think that might be why they kept Mcdougall, and gasper hasnt quite gotten full match fitness yet

after todays game, woosha said he was happy with doogs playing, even though he dropped a lot of marks. do you think its an ability thing or just lack of confidence?

I actually thought he was pretty good today, despite what the commentators had to say on both radio stations - especially that bloody Watters.

He worked hard, presented heaps, and caused some spills (some of which resulted in goals). Seem he's in the WA spotlight at the moment, I suppose someone has to be with Croad gone and Glass playing good footy.

only problem i had was, yes he presented but it was VERY lack lustre IMO. Stick the hands up, that'll do, drop the mark, oh well, that happens, dont bend over to pick it up, im too tall, why should I. Just a serious lack of CONSERTED effort. One thing to present, another thing to actually LOOK like you and act like you want the ball. Id much prefer, if hansen plays well tomorrow, he is given 1 week minimum, he may well do better in 1 than Doogs has done in 10.

Made the right moves today, but was sloppy in backing himself up or doing the little things that count.

I would give Hansen a go next week.

conceded pass for Doogs this week

His skills were abysmal, and his confidence seems totally shot- he was struggling to take simple chest marks.

On the plus side, he did the hard things, constantly gave a contest and actually put in some great second efforts on occasions- with Matera at ground level, really the first priority for our tall forwards is to give a contest- if they do that, the goals come, and it doesn't matter whether its them or Fido kicking them.

I'm not sure whether he'll play next week- Hansen does deserve a game. I can see merits in retaining Doogs since often doing the hard work is the first step towards a forward getting back into form, but I can also see merit in sending him back to the WAFL to gain confidence- whatever Woosh thinks is best, I suppose.

I would have to say a confidence thing. He lead well and I think the TACTICS from the coaching staff was good in the game. I.E he was given plenty of room to work in as a forward, the forward fifity was cleared at times and he was leading from the goal sqaure. I think the critics need to lay off him a bit. He's still only 20. YOU CAN'T HAVE SUPERSTARS at 20. ESPECIALLY key posi players. He created contests and spillage for Matera and coi. to work in.

Doogs problem is that he is a wimp!!! He just won't put his body on the line.

He also is way down on confidence and the crowd is getting on his back.

He needs WAFL time and then, IMO. he needs to come back in defence a la Polak / Mitch White. That will give him more time with the ball and should develop him.

Hansen deserves a chance at FF

i actually thought he did do that this game. Wasn't he the one to send the tiger player off with a busted shoulder? not fully there yet, but i thought it was a better effort

Hansen isn't a Full Forward. It would be like playing Matera at Full Back.

The only time ive ever seen Hansen play for West Coast he lined up at Full Forward in a preseason game...

That comment really annoys me. :( He is not a wimp - no one who plays AFL football is lacking in courage.

"The crowd" is not getting on his back - perhaps a few like you are but don't put the rest of us in your boat ;)

What Doogs needs is confidence and support. Fortunately Woosh and the coaching staff ( the ones who matter in this debate) are supporting him. I feel that some of the supporters of our team seem to want to have someone to be rubbish. In the past is was Suma (a 514 goal, two times Premiership star)) Fraser ( presumably because he wasn't a star whilst suffering from shin splints and was a Victorian to boot) Darren Glass - and now that he is performing, the non-flavour of the month is Doogs.

And anyone who takes any notice whatsoever of the bitter little dwarf that is Scott Waters really needs some help.:(

He can play FF and has played FF many times for the black ducks. But I agree he is a better CHF.

Must have been a long time ago as he was out all of this pre-season with a shoulder injury. The games he has played for Swans have been from a Forward Pocket with him lining up at CHF last week for the first time this year.

2003 Preseason v Hawthorn, iirc.

It was at home vs Richmond or Geelong ( We played both at Subi that year in the preseason and I dont recall which of the games it was)

A Whimp! He played the derby last year with a broken cheek.... I dont think anyone can accuse him of being a wimp... he is a bit down on confidence.... but he will be better for it. I thought he did quite well on the weekend... and he did the one thing we neede... provided a contest and brought the ball down to Matera and Sampi. See how much better Matera looks when he can crumb the ball and not have to lead and outmark in the goalsquare himself.

Not against Richmond he wasnt. He sent Kellaway to the bench with a solid bump and constantly worked hard up forward to bring the ball to ground. He did drop some sitters but thats a confidence thing. But I liked his physicality and his effort. He definitely earned another game next week.

The bump on Kellaway was not a 50/50 situation. Doogs stood little chance of injury.

And Vicki, I NEVER bag any player during a game, I support all of them. But I'd have to be deaf not to hear what others shout and especially that sarcastic roar when he actually took a mark (then missed the goal). Yes he was better than during the saints game but he only presented 50% of the time and dropped easy marks too.
The guy is down and needs a rest from AFL.
