If this question is based on tonights game then IMHO its somewhat unfair. McLeod spent more time on th ebench than on the ground and when he was on the ground he was mainly in the forward line that for long periods of time didn't see any good delivery. Couple that with eased approach to PS comp this year and I am not the slightest bit worried about McLeod or Edwards. They have taking it real easy and having a bit of a hitout just enough to have a shower after the game.

well I hope you're right...

my senses tell me he gets run down too easily.....and for a man of his talent should have slotted a couple on the run but didn't.

I really can't pick out a role for him this year......

He got lost in 1995 and 1996 on a HF Flank - and I'm hoping that's not what Craigy has in mind for him this year

He actually was the one that was providing the direction and positioning in the forward line. It was his move to send Edwards deeper into the forward line at one stage that resulted in an Edwards goal. He almost ran down Burgoyne as well from a fair way back on the wing. Not too much to be worried about MD - he spent the majority on the pine.

I thought he was still doing those little things that make him so special. One time he was running at about 85% pace (it's hard to tell coz he makes everything look so effortless) and then he just stopped dead.

Not much to worry about tonight. Just having a bit of a trot around the park. MD, what do you mean about him getting lost at HF in 95/96? Are you talking about him not playing the position well or are you talking about the position hiding his brilliance where it could be better used elsewhere?

talking about him being wasted.....

I enjoyed his work on the HB line last year - but much of the talk has been about him playing on a HF line in 2007. No matter the talent.....it is very easy to get "lost" there .

For me it's got to be either a HBF...on the ball....or a fwd pocket....

He is a potent weapon - let's not waste him

Thanks for the clarification and I do agree with you. I wouldn't want to see him used there for long periods of time. A run in the midfield with a breather of sorts in the HF line wouldn't be the worst plan though.

Not worried at all. I think the plan this year is to give our senior players an easy workload in the pre-season to have them peak in the finals (ala Sydney over the last couple of years).

Totally agree. Why bust your gut in a meaningless PS game at his age, that's for those trying to cement a spot. There are much bigger fish to fry when the real stuff starts, and its a long season when your'e 30.

Considering he had his calf strapped, I suspect he was taking things relatively easy last night.

Noticed that and maybe if Goody had have played he would not have

He was hardly on the ground but when he was there was a sense of where is he what will he do

As did I. With him and Stiffy back there I thought we had their forwards second guessing

Running down a as a link man and kicking goals scared the opposition

I would like to see some variation of the theme and have him spend time at either end. One for the learning phase for the new guys and 2 to stretch the opposition coach

If Craig is into game day moves  :o

Craig has deliberately given Macca, Edwards & Goody (in the Norwood game) lesser roles to experiment in the pre-season - to give the younger guys more of an opportunity. I'm not worried about Macca as he looks in good shape (I would be more concerned about Roo & Goody).
