Andrew Walker's value

Wont be traded.

THE SCOOP!

His fitness has been mentioned a bit, he actually betters Judd in all of Carltons endurence work, he is our fittest player

Obviously track fitness and match fitness are different things, but still he wont have trouble with a full preseason and 3 games, he would be up there with the fittest

I dont think we would be able to get the value of what he is worth. No clubs are willing to trade on potential, but are willing to bank it. Carlton need to bank it and hope it grows.

Because of his injuries I think the possibilities of trading Walker are none, we need to hope he can better himself and become a decent player over the next 2 years

If we traded him for less than what we gave for McLean I would be ropeable.
Walker has hardly played footy in the last two season(obviously).

Mclean has more value than Walker.

I'm a huge fan of Walker, yet I would trade Andrew for a pick that would allow us to draft Brad Sheppard. :thumbsu:

The injuries worry me more than Walker's game and disposal.

Walker was set to explode last year with the way he was moving and training with Judd beside him in 2007.

Players that tall and big with their athleticism and agility are rare beasts. Walker played on Croad as a skinny 20 year old and shut down the Hawk who was giving Whitnall a belting in their forwardline. He smashed Russell Robertson that year and won 22 touches to get a Brownlow vote.

Harshly rated by opposition fans.

He's just thirteen games away from making his son Cody eligible for the Father-Son rule.

That plus his ability makes his re-signing for two years worthwhile.

would love him at collingwood pick 14 ild do that

If I were Carlton I'd take that and run!

Two major queries over Walker.

1. Inability to play out a season. His shoulder always seems a strong handshake away from popping out. His new club would have to take this risk and on past history, signs are not good.

2. His kicking is ordinary. His pace is good and he has the ability to break lines. But disposal lets him down. Hence he isn't the Mcleod, S Burgoyne style gamebreaker, nor is he a Hayes, Mitchell style clearance and disposal accumulator. If his disposal improves, then fine, but history suggests it's not going to. Doesn't seem to have the tank as a clearance player, nor the discipline for a negating role. Seems a 12-15 depth player for mine.

So for essentially a core 22, yet depth player (no gamebreaker, no accumulator), he's probably worth a 2nd rounder on the open market.

Carlton would be best to keep him.
