Injury Andy Os confirmed ACL

Hopefully no news is good news. Really feel for the kid.

Just trying to think how long it took them to confirm Tex's ACL.

I reckon it was Monday lunch time (I was definitely on a lunch break) after a Saturday afternoon game.

I feel for Andy. I don't particularly rate him as a player, but I do like him, seems like a nice bloke and certainly doesn't deserve this. You wonder what might have been with him if his body held up.

If, as suspect, it is an ACL - we really need to either draft a ready to go defender or pick one up via trade/free agency. Whether that means getting Durdin/Marchbank at the ND (if they are available), or picking up a rookie mature-ager - for instance Pat McCarty who is doing good things at Glenelg, is anyone's guess. If we take Sunday's team as an indication - Talia and Thompson are are two best KPD's - but we also have Shaw and Hartigan on standy who have shown good signs at AFL level, albeit with some weaknesses that need addressing.

I wonder if this injury will increase our push for Frawley as a free agent?

He was very good before the first ACL ... never got to be the player he could have been but that is AFL football .

if the Goldsack rumors hold any weight at all surely we'll go pretty hard for him now, would be a straight swap and a slight to reasonable upgrade.

having said that it wouldn't hurt to pick up a long-term option either. Thompson, Hartigan, Shaw and Siggins have all shown signs that they might be capable but are no certainties by any means, especially Siggins obviously.

Will undergo a traditional reconstruction - so I'm guessing he's out for most of next season as well.

Bad luck Andy but good luck with your surgery and rehab - tex did it - you can too. :)

He already has, unfortunately. Probably helped Tex with his:(

Poor bugger. I rate the guy and defend him from the Shaw and LT fanboys. Would have thought he'd consider LARS as he'll be out of contract next year, won't he? Then again, I'm no expert and it's his decision. All the best Otto. Hopefully we'll see him back by next year.

Taken him so long (3 seasons) to overcome complications from the last one and hold down his spot. I was just like to leave it at that and wish him the best in his recovery.

Yeah I like Otto too, underrated for what he does..
The trouble with LARS is it's still not proven enough for many to rely on, they recommend it more for players nearing the end of their career that don't have time on their side and then, many ACL tears cannot have the LARS surgery.. You need enough of the remaining ligament at each end of the joint but often it tears without enough of a stump at one end, meaning LARS can't be done..

This really sucks. I'm completely shattered for the guy. We won't see him back until 2016 and only then can we begin the long process of re-establishing confidence and form. It just sucks so much. :(
