SuperCoach Rd 7 SC Talk - Trade Talk - Capt/VC ,//, AFL Fantasy Rd 7 AFF Talk - AF Trades - Capt/VC
For all those supporters out there, who think he's shit. Hope you watched today!
While not dominating, he had a very solid game and proved he is our #1 ruckman by far!
10 Disposals, 5 Marks, 16 Hit outs, 4 tackles and 2 goals 1.
Thought that he competed very well today and after Jack I think he was the second best looking forward!
He should have probably kicked 4 goals if he hang onto that mark in the goal square and slotted that other goal..
Simmonds should now announce his retirement, as he will not be able to get back in this side.
Thoughts?
some are easily pleased. while he had a reasonable game and thats being kind. hes still shit.
at least he gave a contest and managed to hang onto a couple of marks.
should have totally dominated against renouf and skipper.he is not the answer.
He does. I've seen him a few times at Coburg and he definitely plays better in yellow and black. That said, 16 hitouts ain't a number one ruckman's return, especially considering he was up against the midget Skipper a fair bit. Took one strong mark, just held onto another and dropped an absolute sitter that could have won us the game. He's not the messiah but in our position we'll take it if he offers that up every week.Never seen much of him at Coburg , but going by the VFL reports against what I've seen with Richmond, seems to step up at the higher level...

Should have played all 8 games
i reckon Hardwick, Lade and Co will concede they underrated Gus. Hats off to Simmo for trying but he just isn't either the present or the future

HIT the nail on the head Santa ... his game was decent - and his best work was done down forward, not actually in the ruck.
But reality check - reading some of the posts on here you'd think Graham had play a Cox-like or Sandilands-like game!!!!
. He played about 1/3 of the game in the ruck and got 16 hitouts. Pretty much did that most of last year

Maybe if you stopped comparing him to the best ruckman in the comp you wouldn't have a problem. He played about 1/3 of the game in the ruck and got 16 hitouts. Pretty much did that most of last year

And the problem with that is ....?
The trouble is Madness we have dozens on our list who you can't compare with the best in the league, hence a decent game like Graham's gets way overstated on here as we are a poor team that hasn't won a game and may not.
Don't underestimate the fact that Hawthorn are a shell of what they were. Sit down and watch the replay, it was an awful game of football - and at times bordered on comical for the turnovers being committed!
If Richmond are going to settle for players who are decent and don't compare favourably with the best in the competitoon, we might as well shut up shop now!

We are talking about ruckman here. You don't have to be a star to play ruck. Most ruckman are no better than Graham. In fact alot are not even as good. Yesterdays game by Graham is what I expected from him. Not bothered by how he was playing at vfl level. Alot of players look better at afl level because they lift in confidence and feel more motivated to do better because they aren't playing in a crappy league thinking they'll never get picked if Simmonds is given games ahead of them![]()
I think you are selling that effort short Goldust it is the best game IMO that he has played. And also it would be the most effort the team and club has put in all season.
How many games has Jolly played in his career?
Wood is not a full time Ruckman, he could not handle the pace at the lions, but someone gave him a second chance, give Angus a go Hardwick is still trying to work him out.
If Angus and Vickery don't get going by the end of the season i'll come down From CQ and buy you a cake.
but I actually think he's better value down forward. That's where he did his best work and God knows jack could do with the help!!!
Maybe ... I'm a harsh marker.
To be honest, it was the best game I have seen him play, but I actually think he's better value down forward. That's where he did his best work and God knows jack could do with the help!!!
he is still our best ruckmen so maybe one whole quarter there and then the rest rucking with maybe a 5 min spell there.Did you happen to hear Dimmas after match presser. He said with a light hearted chuckle how he didn’t think the big bloke (Gus) had it in him, the big grabs and goals, and if he keeps it up he just might leave him there.
Might have sounded off the cuff, but what if it wasn’t? Im wondering if he might line up in the forward line to see if he can do a repeat.
wtf? dud cmon.I accept one swallow doesnt make a summer
I'll give you a list a mile long of ruckman who are better than Graham!!!
Sandilands, Jolly, Wood, Hudson, Cox, Natanui, Mumford, McIntosh, hale, Maric, Brogan, Kreuzer, Simmonds, Ryder, Hille, Gardiner, Koschitzke (when he plays there), McEvoy for straters of those who played on the weekend.
No, madness, Graham is not better than most AFL ruckmen - he ain't likely the best of a poor bunch at Tigerland.

seems many supporters like the club are mired in mediocrity.
its like pulling teeth. the logic seems to be aw hell he went better than simmonds so he must be okay. they totally ignore that both are below standard and always will be from here on in. one is below standard because his body wont allow him to play at a decent level and the game has passed him by. the other well hes never been up to it and is so ordinary.
the club is in dire need of a senior or mature ruckman those who think graham is the way forward are totally deluded and are very accepting of abject mediocrity.
ruckmen i would take in front of graham. griffen, maric, moran, tippett.
charman, leuenberger, mcculloch, bellchambers, hille, laycock, ryder, jacobs, kruezer, warnock, hampson, jolly, fraser wood, sandilands, clarke, bradley, ottens simpson west blake, renouf, taylor bailey.jamar johnson, goldstein, hale mcintosh, petrie brogan, redden, seasby, mumford, king, gardiner, mcevoy, cox, naitanui, sullivan, hudson minson roughhead,
thats most ruckmen who have had a game or i have seen play.many are below standard many young, many rated as spuds by many on here yet i would take the lot of em before graham.
it should not be hard for us to upgrade on angus and do it cheaply.
. I reckon Graham will be better than at least half of those players you named. You are here just to be a bit of a knob. Blake averages about 2 touches a game. You are rating Graham who has played about 15 games compared to most who have played alot more. On average he should be near the top on what he's done in 15 games. Kicked a few goals, averaged a few hit outs and possessions. On average he should be in the top 10 of that list. Yeah we get it, you don't like him because he plays for Richmond

I feel same way about BlingI hope that dimma has learnt a thing or two on this. One, if in doubt read the BF board for another angle and secondly there is an old saying if it aint working, change it...simmo was broken down from R1 with the point being hammered home for the next month to not even look at changing the mix was a MASSIVE oversight and has probably accounted for 4-6goals a week against.
Simmo out of the side was always going to improve us, anything the incoming ruck did was a BONUS![]()
I'm not too concerned about it costing us each week thus far to be honest what's really critical is that over the course of the season we learn who can/can't take us forward. It's so easy to be experts in hindsight, but I can only assume that Vickery and Simmo were showing more than Graham on the training track.
