Ok I am a little annoyed at people bagging the crows for drafting another victorian who got homesick & left so here is what I have heard.

Angwin -
Loses licence for Drink driving (al la vardy at richmond)
Then gets busted for shoplifting - rings reidy to keep out of papers
Then on last chance told any more and would be out.
He then goes and gets busted again for stealing (mental problem not lack of cash)

Fantasia is spewing because he did all the normal checks of good family background, academic results etc etc.

Glenelg players were running a book on how long it would be before he was going to end up in jail.

The stealing stuff is all news to me. Can't see why he would contimplate it on his salary. I can understand keeping out of the press on the 1st charge, but unlikely the Crows could have avoided any coverage for a 2nd charge. So I reckon your being a little imaginative with your story.

Would be suprised if Angwin returns from Victoria mid-season in 2002 once he has built up some confidence in the VFL in an enviroment he is comfortable with. Still could make an impact at the Crows later in the 2002 season. If not, as long as he is playing again & worth something in a trade.

How do you know about the shoplifting? Can you verify your facts?

Phil Harper said that when they checked out Angwin, they realised they would have to be especially vigilant with him. (He didn't say why. I'm not inferring in any way at all that they suspected he would go off the rails in the manner you imply.) If they had ANY doubts at all, they should have gone to the next best player. I hope they've learnt their lesson well.
