Brisbane are having continued difficulty with salary cap. I was wrong about Mcgrath, but Corrie may become available.

Would Adelaide be interested in him at the pre Season draft?

Lets hear your views.

He is young, quick and quite skilful.

Coming from the NT, Mcleod could act as a tutor.

I would be STOKED if we got him BUT Richmond, Hawks and Collingwood would want him as well.

I read that pies are interested in Carracella where as Tigers and Hawks aren't because he is too old.

I rate him highly and was disappointed we picked up Jericho insted of Corrie. As I said I would LOVE to get him but I don't think we are a chance.

On CH 10 they said we are interested in un-named VFL player

corrie wouldnt be a bad pickup at all, he's done ok so far

but from the lions site:
"Corrie barracked for the Bears, but switched allegiances to Port Adelaide"

Stiffy, does anyone else on the board know who this player might be.

He may be at training this week, so whoever is going to the first official session, you may be able to tell us who is the mysterious player.

I have a feeling he may be an inside midfielder. Just a hunch!

I think you've summed it up well Stiffy. He'd be good to get, but it won't happen.

If 10's suggestion is accurate, you'd have to think that the un-named VFL player would have to be one who missed out on being drafted in 2003 but has had a good 2004, given our current youth policy.

Having said that, I have no idea who it could be.

He could be a rookie listed player, from a Melbourne club., who has been on the list for two years and not been upgraded.

wouldnt be suprised if it was justin crow who has been on the pies rookie list but had to be cut because he was there for his max number of yrs. althetic ruckman type who has been very good from all reports in the VFL. he was promoted to the senior list sometime this year but the pies chose not to go on with him which suprised afew people.

Thanks for this orangeapple.

You must be salivating at the prospects for next year. You will have a midfield to die for - Butler, Waters, Stenglein, and a few old stagers in Kerr, Cousins, Judd and the left footer whose name escapes me for the moment.

Could well be.

Didn't Justin Crow do some pre-season training with the Crows a couple of years ago before Collingwood rookie listed him?

Chad Fletcher perhaps ?

Chad Fletcher went to the Dees didn't he? Chad Morrison maybe?
Maybe this VFL player we're looking at doesn't actually have a name. Maybe we need to take Channel 10 far more literally. I can see the pause now from Dennis when he flies for a mark.

Fletcher is still at the Eagles and is likely to be so for some time, having made All Australian this year. He had a very very good year.

Phillip Read was a delist from WCE that was picked up by Melbourne in the PSD.

No offence intended, but if you get these two guys mixed up I'm glad your not on our recruitment staff :p

Chad Morrison has been traded by WCE to Collingwood.

Yes, he definately did. Only I can't remember whether we passed on him or Collingwood got in first.

wouldnt we have to have passed on him considering the two previous years Collingwood had finished higher than us because they played in the GF ;)

Correct macca23. He trained with us in 2001 along with Hentschel and Jamar. We picked up Hentschel in PSD, Melbourne picked up Jamar in the Rookie Draft and Collingwood picked up Crow in the Rookie Draft right under our noses.

It think it could be someone else. Crow is still a rake and has one of those bodies that can never beef up ala Scott Stevens and Ryan Fitzgerald

From the little I have seen him play for Brisbane I doubt very much they wouldn't go all out to keep him. He is more than just a tad promising. He showed great form.
As far as going for Port, I think Fabian Francis may have had something to do with it. First cousins I think.

Draft Profiles - Other

Well this section is an absolute lottery. Picking which players will be taken from the VFL or outside the system is virtually impossible. The following were some of the standout performers in the VFL in 2004 and all are already attracting strong interest from AFL clubs. Of course it’s just as likely a player will be plucked from the VFL that is a real surprise (ie Ben Hudson from Werribee last year) or even someone like Al Neville or Chris Goullet from the VAFA.

Rhys Carter

Details:
Club: Sale/Werribee
DOB: 1 January 1984 Hgt: 190cm Wgt: 90kg
Position: Forward
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
State Screening Camp 2004

Strengths: Carter is one of the most interesting stories in the draft pool, having played football in Sale until he was 13 before quitting to concentrate on basketball.

Afer playing two years with the Victoria Giants and the Australia junior side he decided to take up footy again and spent most of the year in the Werribee reserves. A forward, he showed enough raw ability to get a screening camp invite.

Weaknesses: Would be a big gamble given how little footy he has played, and even this year he struggled to play VFL seniors.

Comment: Could be one of the real surprise packets. Apparently a couple of clubs are very keen to take a gamble late in the draft, although a rookie list would seem more likely.

Matthew Egan

Details:
Club: Oak Park/Geelopng (VFL)
DOB: 7 October 1983 Hgt: 194cm Wgt: 98kg
Position: Full Back
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Full Back in VFL Team of the Year 2004

Strengths: Egan had an excellent season in defence for the Geelong VFL side, and was rewarded with Full Back in the VFL team of the year. Matthew has a background in tennis, but handled some of the best goalkickers in the VFL very well this year.

He is disciplined, very strong one-on-one and usually makes good decisions.

Weaknesses: Tends to be more of a negating player rather than creating a lot out of defence. Not much scope for improvement.

Comment: Clubs that are looking for a ready made defender late in the draft could do a lot worse than Egan. Geelong VFL coach Ron Watt is a big fan of his, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Cats take him with their final selection.

Josh Gibson

Details:
Club: Oakleigh/Port Melbourne
DOB: 3 March 1984 Hgt: 186cm Wgt: 88kg
Position: Half Back Flank
Natural Foot: Left

Strengths: Josh is a dashing flanker of West Indian origin who has had a most impressive season for the powerful Port Melbourne side in the VFL. A graduate of the TAC Cup with Oakleigh, he has really improved his game over the past couple of seasons.

Gibson is a very strong build, good mark and his tackling is nothing short of ferocious.

Weaknesses: Decision making still questionable at times, and might not have what it takes to take the next step. May need to work on his aerobic fitness.

Comment: With his build he is almost ready-made for AFL, which should suit some clubs. Will no doubt become a cult hero for any club that picks him up.

Luke Jarrad

Details:
Club: Western/Williamstown
DOB: 29 September 1983 Hgt: 185cm Wgt: 76kg
Position: Onballer/Wing
Natural Foot: Left

Honours:
State Screening Camp 2004

Strengths: Jarrad is a lightly built wingman who had a very impressive season for the Seagulls in the VFL, resulting in a call-up to state screening camp. He had spent the previous two years in the Williamstown Reserves, winning their best and fairest in 2003.

Luke has a tremendous leap on him and won the VFL Mark of the Year for a massive grab in Round 2 against Box Hill. He is also a very long left-foot kick and handled himself well against AFL opposition.

Weaknesses: Had a flat spot during the season that saw him miss Victorian selection. Needs to put some weight on and improve his attack on the footy.

Comment: Definitely one of the better young prospects in the VFL, Luke deserves at least a rookie listing after an excellent season.

Byron Murphy

Details:
Club: Mornington/Frankston (VFL)
DOB: 28 September 1984 Hgt: 181cm Wgt: 72kg
Position: Wing
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
State Screening Camp 2004

Strengths: Byron Murphy is a lightly built wingman who looks a bit like Joel Smith with his headband. He has been ultra-impressive for Frankston in the VFL this year. He has good pace but also the ability to play inside, and is a natural ball winner. He is a good kick and knows where the goals are.

Murphy has already proven he can match it with senior footballers, constantly getting in the best players and showing great composure for a youngster.

Weaknesses: Not travelling the traditional recruiting path of the TAC Cup might mean he has not being noticed by most clubs. Needs to add some weight.

Comment: Murphy could loom as one of the surprise selections of the draft. The last few years have shown clubs are prepared to take players from the VFL, and Murphy is still young and has performed well. I've been really impressed when I've seen him play and think he should be on an AFL list. Doubt we’ll get him, but we should try.

Other Screening Camp Invitees

Andrew Jansen – I know very little about him to be honest other than he is an overage player who plays on the ball for Warragul in the Gippsland league. A real smoky.

Hamish Troon – Tall forward from Geelong College who tends to sit in the goal square and rely on his marking ability to kick goals. Left footer who is a good set shot for goal.

I can't believe some of you Adelaide posters are so excited about Corrie. Those who have opposed the idea give yourself a pat on the back, the rest, Corrie is as soft as butter and no heavier than a feather. If you're looking to bring mediocre players to the club waste some cash on him.

Interesting, you got McMahon as the gun youngster at Bulldogs yet Corrie is soft as butter and no heavier than feather.

Something about rose coloured glasses

Western Bulldogs board starts with a 'W' not an 'A' Mike

Though top efforts on trolling so much lately

McMahon will be a gun. Under Rocket he will explode as a footballer and break the lines on a regular basis.
