Hello, i have a 20gb limit of downloads a month (it combines upload and download although i hardly use upload) anyway i regularary watch stuff like Euro 2008 via streams, like the games not on sbs. But the other day i accidentally left one on for 12 hours:eek: and how I'm at 76% (15 gb used out of 20gb).

So my question is any tips to reduce use of downloads when browsing, eg: like changing a internet setting or disabling something?

And any tips to reduce use of download while watching streams maybe more lower quality ones?

I did my maths lol and i have about 4 or 5 games left of my downloads to watch before the month ends. Now that is pretty good, i will watch the remaining 2 Portugal Group Games (as i follow Portugal), and probably 1 quarter final, and 1 semi final game regardless weather Portugal are there or not, but not the Final as SBS are showing that.

So just basically any tips to reduce it? or not use certain thins eg: MSN Messenger, any tips would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

def. close msn (although i think telstra may not include this in ur quota..and the upload counting soudns like telstra!)
if ur not using an internet explorer page close it..because some fo them refresh constantly
close any program that may use the net to check for an update or nething like that...ur antivirus probably wil but i wouldnt close that
disable automatic updates
thats all i can think of
and dont browse or look at emails unless u have to

Thanks Rooboy i will deisable images, also by cache what do you mean?

When you visit a web site, images and files get stored on your computer so that when you revisit the site and the files which you have stored on your computer haven't changed you won't have to redownload them, which means it'll be faster and use up less downloads.

Depends on what browser you have to change it.

ok so how do i change it? i have just the normal interent explorer

In regards to using MSN and messenger type services, if you must, and dont want to be wasting much bandwidth in regards to upload and download, use www.meebo.com .

From that site you can log into your MSN or yahoo, aim or google talk.
I've only ever been able to compare it against MSN (Windows Live Messenger) and it uses up about only 20% of ur upload and download quota as compared to the real mccoy. Does the same job really and can be used from any computer anywhere in the world if you happen to travel and no MSN available.

Just don't leave streaming on for 12 hours. That's pretty much it.

I am with bigpond with both download and upload and I don't find that general browsing, no matter how heavy it is, uses up too much bandwith. I play Team Fortress 2 online.

Or have I missed the point and are you just looking to minimise internet use so you can download some games and not go over the limit?
