taz told me & my friend after the game today :(
but theres nothing on the freo site or anything, he said he's gone back to melb & won't even be at the doig medal. tho my dad thought he heard on the radio that he'd signed on again.. but don't think taz would lie

he's had surgury on his knee so he's out for the year but there has been no official word on what is happening next year

well i'm just going from wat taz told me after the game coz i asked him if solly went to todays game & he said he retired yesterday & is going back to melb & won't be going to the doig

well i think it would be his knee that would make him retire but he was one of my fave players ever since he was 18.. so yeh

I'll wait for something official but it does suck if true. I wanted Solly to go around one more year.

If it is true, maybe this opens the door for Luke Pratt.

Was it two years we got out of him? Or was it three?

Good player for us, especially in his first season for Freo (might have been 2007?) But his thuggish acts have cost us repeatedly. I would want us to delist him at the end of the year anyway.

if true this is sad. i think he had been playing well enough to play on. definetly one of my favourite players. but if there is one thing i think we can learn from the josh carr saga. it is that an older player leaving the club can be a blessing in disguise

I'm not having a go at you or anything, but I would seriously doubt the bolded part is true.

If Solomon was to retire, there is no way he would turn his back on the club straight away. That's just not something Solomon would do.

Anyone else think Haze was a bit suss with his lap after the game?

My gut feeling is that Solly and Hase won't be around next year. If they are they'll both get 1yr contracts.

Solly has been a great player but I don't think his body will let him play like an 18yr old anymore. It's a pity, I like him as a player, but sometimes you just know it's time to hang up the boots. I heard that he was having exploratory surgery on his knee... not sure what the outcome was? If it is his last year, I'd like him to go to the Doig. If he's playing on next year, then getting the surgery done is a higher priority than going to an awards ceremony IMHO.

re: Hase. After the game when the team was about to walk off, he didn't seem interested in joining with the rest. But, maybe he was just knackered? Or ... maybe he knows that it's his last year. Who knows?! I guess we'll find out by November 10th.

Its true well the part about SOLOman already going back to melbourne anyway.
He has gone to melb to get his knee checked out or operated on.

If it does put him out for a year you can pretty much guarantee its the end of him.
If its only a small problem i think he will be playing again next year.

I am really glad u included that word.:D

As long as you guys werent on the top floor in the ward overlooking the Swan.:(

I like Solly, if its true..then its a sad way to end a career.

From what I know, Solly has had his knee operated on almost, if not, every year for a clean-up after his reco. He may not be able to play like an 18 year old anymore, but I still think he's got something to offer the side...he's been ok this year.

Trouble is mate it looks like we are going to take around 4 in the ND and you would expect at least 2 (if not 3) rookies will be upgraded.

If Solly stays and it means someone like Drum or Pratt gets cut....I'm really not a fan.

Being crude about it, I'd be take it or leave it with Solli. At the start of the year I would have said he's got one more year in him and we could do with a strong mature body while the kids develop, but now at rnd 22 and I'm not so concerned. We will again get shown up against a really mature team in Geelong next week, but generally the young guys have been able to hold their own and should be OK as long as Pav, Hayden and a few others are on deck.

Hope all is well with the guy, if he goes around one more I'm cool, if not, it's a sad way to go out, but not terrible in timing lets face it.

i wouldn't think that either coz ive known him since he was 18, well not him but supported him & a few ppl i kno back in melb who are part of the mildura bombers cheersquad kno his mum etc & solly doesn't seem like the kind of guy to jus up & leave like that but i'm jus going on wat taz said last nite coz i asked him if he was at the game coz his car wasn't there but not sure when solly had the surgery or watnot and well if he did have it last week he probs wouldn't be able to drive anyway. i hope he is at the doig coz last year was fun with him & taz & some of the other boys singing with shannon noll :p
