The old Weekend NBL and NBA basketball games on 10.

I remember growing up in the mid to late 90's when everyone played Basketball, even going to the NBL games was massive.

I use to be a massive North Melbourne Giants fan as I was growing up in the 90s.

Basketball had a great culture back then, but look at it now. It pales in comparison.

Once the Knights merged, I pretty much stopped following the sport.

This is what happens when one sport totally dominates. I think it is unhealthy, and how can other sports move ahead when AFL dominates the media, even in the off-season?

Remember going to the entertainment centre to watch the wildcats. Got nosebleeds having to sit so far back - it was always packed out. Kind of a shame that the sport has gone back to being of minor interest to anyone.

Why has the game gone out of interest? I mean the Bullets won the championsiop and no one gave a crap, no one knew who they were? I remember late ninties early 00's Bullets were crap but now we are awesome, I tried to watch it a bit last season and the ony before. MIGHT attempt to watch it this year if I can be bothered lol.

I think since fox sports got the rights maybe they lose interest and not know many players? Bit like Super 14, its on Fox therefore no one knows many players not playing for the Wallabies, like Berrick Barnes no one knew him before he came out of no where. Though I first knew him back at the Broncos haha so I aint no Barnes bandwagoner.

Think people lost interest because like other sports in Australia it doesn't get the media coverage or funding required to keep it continually in the spotlight. Only have to look at the Australian Women's Netball and Hockey team to see this - World Champions for god knows how many years but they all need to keep working to be able to afford to play - go figure.
