I still wonder about the Giants though...say they are hosting Sydney or Collingwood in a prelim in a few years years time, showground will be too small for it, and with no anz stadium to fall back on, do they play their prelim at the scg? Shock and horror

Probably, but really I don't see what is wrong with the Showgrounds unless it is a big club.

Im a pies fan but if that semi was at the SCG and not ANZ i would of attended the game..ANZ is worse in a number of ways including the distance from the city, amount of pubs around, food options and food prices in the ground (last time i went it was $15 for a hotdog, chips, coke).

There is something good to say about ANZ. The Swans used to have a terrrible stadium deal with the SCG Trust as it was the only stadium in town. When ANZ became available it gave the Swans an option and bargaining power. The Swans now have a long term deal (?30 years) from 2017 with favourable terms so the club will be in a good financial position (as long as attendance doesn't go back to early 90s figures!).

... The NSW state government is reportedly planning to purchase the stadium very soon and develop it into a more suitable rectangular stadium to suit league, rugby and soccer more. That could give room for the club and AFL to involve themselves and negotiate an exit before the contract finishes.

Here's hoping. I never miss a game at ANZ but the place just f***ing sucks.

The reporting is confusing. It's Allianz that is getting demolished and a new rectangular stadium built there (next to the SCG). ANZ is to get a roof but will remain basically as is. They hope the roof will attract more people!

40 minutes, the horror! It took 40 minutes to just get out of the Waverely Park car park. Sydney supporters are by and large, clueless muppets.

I remember once at Waverley it took me 40 minutes to find my car!

I hope that GWS and the Suns get to play any home finals at Showgrounds/Metricon and not get forced to move to SCG/Gabba as is sometimes mentioned.
Gabba is not the Suns home ground and neither is SCG for GWS.

30min for an all stops service makes sense. Aren't there express services before and after the game though? That link suggested it stopped only at Redfern and Strathfield?

A North supporter above claimed to have got a direct service from Central to Olympic Park in 10 min.

Yes only Redfern,Strathfield, but still some distance to cover between Central and Olympic Park.
10 mins from Central, wouldn't get you to Strathfield.
