Apparently the story going around is that Apache cat fractured a sesamoid bone in the Hong Kong sprint and has been retired.

No official word as of yet, but this news i read on a racing forum, and was told by somebody who seems to know this shit.

Anyway it's very sad, he is up there with Takeover Target as the most popular racehorse this country has had the last few years. Shame we'll never see the baldy faced champ race again.

Sad news, one of the true racing personalities, and a great horse too. At least he got that last win at the Valley in the spring, he went out fighting.

Hope they retire him to the farm of champions, I'd go visit him.:)

And you wonder why every year less and less Australian horses are going to Hong Kong.

Even the great Takeover Target had problems there.

They confirmed it today. sad news.
Hong Kong Are Rat's Not sure if any of use knew this but Takeover target was meant to race there for a 10 million dollar bonus or something and because hong kong didnt want to pay it out they brought it a bunch of rules that stuffed TT up.

One of the true icons of the racing industry finished. Sad news. :(

On the plus side, will get to see it up close & personal at the 'Living Legends' farm. Can't wait to see the horse resting up and will be sure to take a photo with it. :thumbsu:

Good to see Sportsbet sponsoring Apache's retirement.

Fresh from the news of star sprinter Apache Cat fracturing a bone in his leg, Sportsbet.com.au has pledged to sponsor Apache Cat’s retirement to Living Legends, the International Home of Rest for Champion Horses at Oaklands Junction.

“Apache Cat has long been a fan favourite with his outstanding record and striking looks, and we’re delighted we can help in a small way to bring this champion back to the public,” said Sportsbet.com.au’s Haydn Lane.

It is expected Apache Cat will join his new stable mates including Might and Power, Doriemus, Better Loosen Up, Rogan Josh, Brew, Saintly, Fields of Omagh and Silent Witness at Living Legends early in the new year.

The more money going to there, the better.
