YES!!!! Was starting to get worried about him bailing on us. Have high hopes for this guy.

You know, apart from winning games and all that...

Ahh the ol' freo do terrible on the weekend but we have saved a signing to announce to make the fans feel better trick

jokes aside, very exctied to see Apeness extend as he should be starting to find his feet at AFL level at this age with a clean injury run.

Please Langdon next, I know its unlikely but this guys gonna be a star

Fantastic news - would expect him to play every game for the rest of the year now - just a question how we fit in 211, Apeness and Clarke if Pav and Tabs are still playing as well.

Ape at FF
Pav at CHF
Tabs on the flank

Clarke left right out

If we bring him in this weekend, please can we play him as a key target inside 50 (ie full forward) with Ballas, Walters or Mayne crumbing beside him? Yarran in the other pocket as the other deep marking target. Pav and Tabs both at half forward leading up. Would be great to kick that first goal at home against West Coast.

I'd settle for a few pack-crunching hits on Schofield and Mackenzie.

I would like that as well but not so much after the collarbone incident. Need him to play out the season and then he can crunch whoever he likes next season - preferably in a way that won't injure himself.

I'd be playing him at full forward with nobody else in purple within 35m of him, let him clunk a high ball, pressure the contest with extra blokes.
I think Apeness refers to those "extra blokes" (ie small defenders) as speed bumps. They could actually help him in two ways: (a) as a human step ladder; or (b) as spongy rail guards like in bumper bowling to keep him heading in the right direction.

Pack marking's not exactly foreign to him: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2013-07-15/draft-prospect-michael-apeness ~1:30 in against WA is one of my favs.

That's exactly what I had in mind, him running at guys trying to run back with the flight. :)

Hasn't kicked multiple goals since his 5 against Brisbane. Maybe he or Mayne end up in Defence given Dawsons suspension.
