Don't get too carried away mate, might have been the first official game but the Indigenous kids played it for a long time before that. However, I agree that judd magic is a tool. Gives very little helpful insight into anything.
there is a lot of debate about this... but there is not any substantial proof that it was played by the aboriginals. Geoffrey Blainey, regarded as one of Australua's best historians agrees, and says that it is most likely to have been influenced by the different versions of ball sports played in the 1850s in england. he says it was based on english ball games (most notably rugby, but each school had their own variations), not aboriginals.

Also, although the actual first game wasnt played b/n mgs and scotch ( it was the first 'recorded' game, with the first game being played between mgs and st kilda grammar) I just wanted to give mgs and scotch a plug before the big game on saturday. Great to be returning to the MGS main instead of flack park as well.

P.S. Judd magic is a tool

grammar and scotch fought it out on the MGS main. mgs getting up by 15 in the end. no doubt would of been more if the conditions were better as the team as a truck load of speed with mara, bails, von bibra, hanlon, de fegely, queenel and more.
interesting to know how xavs, bgs and cgs went....

Xavs played Assumption Kilmore in the grudge match and battled out a 4 goal win in wet conditions, despite massive punch ons at half time and Assumption being 5pts up Xavier fought back by putting on 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter, assumption didnt kick a goal for the rest of the game.

Robert Chancellor is making his debut tomorrow for Carey against Brighton. He has been described as the Dean Cox of the APS and a back injury has kept him out so far, expect him to be in the first in one or two weeks

Chris Wischer, the main instigators in the melee is one the of most feared players going round and makes life hell for his opponents. Luckily there is no tribunal in APS (well, i dont think there is) or else he'd b doin plenty of time.

gotta agree with u there. he makes up for his lack of skill with hardness at the ball and cheap dirty tactics. he id start the melee that had the HC MGS game called off

r there any schools who are undefeated in the 2nds comp. Scotch have lost once. xavs have lost once. skevs twice?????? Please correct if any of these statements r wrong.

skevs shudda been twice. we were robbed of a win last game we played em cause the boundary ump couldnt throw the ball in properly, resulting in it having to be thrown in again with precious time being wasted with us having most of the momentum. wat a joke!

hailebury 2s are a force to be rekoned with.

the rumor mill has been in full force in geelong
word has it both wade and hatch will be back to the team early in term 3
wade deffinatly a chance for further promotion, not sure how accurate my sources are however as when he snapped his collarbone it wasnt a pretty sight requiring sugery im told. would be a big plus for GC and as he is clearly an outstanding player of the seconds comp.
can anyone confirm or deny these rumors?

MGS are undefeated atm. and are the only teams to have beaten both scotch and xavier. versing skevs this week.

xavier pumped skevs by about 90 points - they'll claim shitty umpiring and rightly so but 90 odd points is fairly hard to argue with.

The recently elevated Xavier thirds got done by about a goal against the Scotch seconds. Some dynamite biff in that one too.

fascinating game and a gutsy loss to one of the top 3 seconds team...Xav 3's played brilliantly to a cocky Scotch and won the game besides the second quater where Scotch really owned it.

Is nick von bibra from mgs, the best 2nds player going round coz he'd hav to come close. Also tom healey who has kicked 5,6,7 goals in consecitive weeks would hav to b up there aswell.(some would say he plays like kent kingsley or a david mench but he gets the job done).

i think he very much play like kent kingsley kicks bags of goals every week. even did it in a 1sts praccy game over the holidays 3 in a quarter. von bibra should of made 1sts already
