Have a look at yesterday's team sheets and tell me that the result is really that great a surprise to you. Of course we've improved massively this season, and I think I speak for most of us when I say that I'm rapt that I can go to a game of Footy this season knowing that I'm going to see a contest even if we get beaten.

I haven't done the numbers, but based upon 7 changes last week we must have had more than ten of our best 22 missing yesterday? We had so many blokes playing with less than 20 games under their belts... more than our opponents I'd also hazard a guess. Is it really a surprise that we didn't maintain our composure in the last couple of minutes?

Maybe the season's shot, but hope shouldn't fade so quickly. We all know that we're heading in the right direction. The evidence has been there for the last 15 rounds. Yesterday is an aberration. I just hope that the Match Committee learns its lesson. We aren't yet at a point where we can rest players and expect to win. We should have our best available 22 on the park every week.

No excuse for losing to a bunch of kids who've been together less than 3 years. We had enough talent and experience in that team to win the game. Pathetic first half. Shameful.

If you're suggesting Ivan or Griffiths were rested, you're wrong.
Fair enough. If you're telling me they would have missed whether we were playing GC or Carlton and that this was the best possible 22 we could put on the park then I can't complain.

As a matter of interest what were the conditions like? I was in Cairns a couple of weeks ago and the weather was perfect. There was no humidity and it was low 20s every day. We looked like we were struggling with it yesterday... was it hotter and/or humid?

And just to clarify re thread title - are we all done yet in relation to the understandable venting? I don't think our season is done yet, but I also didn't ever think we would win a flag this year. I will still stump up the cash for a family membership again in 2013 as I'm sure most here will.

It may be a coping mechanism, but I tend to agree with you BB. There were always going to be blips on the radar on our rise to glory. This is one of those.

Who were we missing? Grimes, Vickery, Foley, Jackson, Martin, Griffiths, Mullet, with Batchelor, Newman and Rance playing on through injury, sure I am missing some too. That's a fair whack of grunt and class missing all over the ground. If even half of those names were played last night, and the game were played in Melbourne, we'd have won by 8+ goals.

However... If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. I guess the point is, yes our depth is not great, but the trend overall is a good one.

A bunch of kids (much like our bunch of kids, but with a few more games under their belt) plus almost all of their senior players (Bock obviously missing, anyone else?). That was the best team they've put on the park all season I think, and Gaz had obviously set himself for a big one.

so lets say we were playing at the G against the roos instead of Cairns against the Suns. Tipping the jab would have gone in dude..the fact that we were playing against the suns, surely had a bearing on Ivan being out.

It was more humid than the previous two days we were there, boys were wearing sweat bands and gloves, the ball got really sweaty even in training.

No problem with you speculating, I'm just telling you the facts.

Most footy Ivan's ever played in his life, got a knock last week, was sore.

Guessed as much. It looked like a bar of soap in some sets of hands.

So our team which is 3/4 made up of a bunch of kids plus some underdone players should 100% beat GC?

At the Richmond Football Club, we've always got an excuse of some sort.

Ivan will make a miraculous recovery after drinking from the fountain at Lourdes , then again he could miss the next year and a half given our history of hiding injuries, see Foley, Moore etcetera

So, has McGuane saved his career by re-inventing himself as a KPF. He looked pretty good yesterday, all things considered, and I've been one of his biggest critics.

It was great to see Kel Moore back. I'd almost given up hope. Good servant of the club is Kel, and good bloke to boot.

I thought that was what the OP was about??

On your points - we too have a bunch of kids together less than 3 years (2 years in fact)
- They too had enough talent and experience to win the game
- Agree, we did lose the first 2 quarters, not good enough. To their credit the boys fought back and regained the lead; awesome 3rd quarter.

Take a step back and look at the big picture, we are still very much on our way to regular finals appearances. Book mark it.

Save yourself stig. Even if you had an army at your dispense, you would struggle to correct 1% of comment on here, including the majority of mine probably
