I'm still smiling now. Carlton supporters must have felt it coming, there were hardly any of their folk at the game last night. I can handle one Sunday night game a year and bad PT if we smash the scum like we did.
Haha true. Still, I'd rather a Saturday arvo game with 80,000 there and we smash the scum like we did. I think we probably accounted for 80% of the crowd, the scum certainly did not turn up.

AFL say they are happy with the crowd.. again highlighting that the AFL is a bunch of arrogant toss pots.. how the **** thinks it is 'better' to have 60K at a game vs 85K+???

How low does it go..? I mean do you have to play all blockbusters in this stupid time slot? Norf vs PA got 19K on Sunday twilight.. make that Sunday night and they would have been lucky to get 10K.. sure lots of viewers are going to tune in for that one.. not!

No matter which way you slice it.. Attendances are way way way down on last year:
After 3 rounds in 2014: 889,152 people have attended 27 games
After 3 rounds in 2013: 1,008,660 people had attended 27 games

So attendance is down around 110,000... about 35K per round.. which is actually significant.

AFL will want to pay attention soon.

My only complaint is that I was going to drive to Clifton Hill and catch a train but realised on the way in that I didn't have a Myki card so ended up driving in and parking at the G which cost me $30.:(:thumbsdown:

Serious? $30? That's not just the normal MCG parking, surely...

I parked opposite Aami Park. Convenient but costly.
At the tennis centre? For future reference, I think it's $20 if you pre-book - or it was when I went to a concert at RLA recently.

The AFL got smashed in the ratings by the Block. Even if you just take Melbourne figures into account they were behind by 100k. Only just beat 60 minutes in Melbourne as well.

Been saying for the past 18 months.. AFL executive is fast tracked to 'kill the golden goose'.. Channel 7 isn't going to pay 1B for rights if you can't beat The Block.. and Foxtel isn't going to pay big $$ if no one else is bidding for it..

Big worrying signs.. oh and Australia needs to man up and admit that, despite the pretty pictures and graphs, we are in a recession in real people's hip pockets and there is just not enough money floating around to justify the prices being charged...

18 teams is far too many for the relatively small sport of AFL.. and it has produced 9 games a week.. which sounds good in theory.. then you realise that 3-4 of those games are so dogshit boring no one wants to watch them unless they have too.. oh and the rolling maul scrap heap that is modern 'contested' footy has turned some games into hybrid Union games..

No more Sunday Night games.. ever.

The important question is whether Channel 7 were happy with the ratings ? And how their ratings go for future Sunday nights ? Thsi will decide whether the experiment continues.

They would be wishing they put MKR on instead.
