Went out to Trinity Grammar playing fields today and had the pleasure of seeing this great Argentine team train from no more than 30 metres away. Superb stuff to watch for any fan of the sport. An enclosed training game with the likes of Messi, Tevez, Saviola and Zanetti was very entertaining. The skills these guys possess are incredible and it was an honour to see them go about their business in a relaxed but competitive atmosphere. Another who impressed me was their goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri with some brilliant reflex saves and aerial work. Can't wait for Tuesday night now, it promises to be exciting although possibly one sided.

possibly one sided LOL

defitnetly one sided more like it

True. I was trying to be nice.

Got to meet the players outside their hotel today and got some autographs. Being a massive Inter fan I was very excited to get a photo with and an autograph from our club captain Javier Zanetti. Absolute legend.

Cheating, overrated, choking

They may choke when it comes to Brazil but Argentina are far from the dour, dirty, overly-physical team of thugs that they were thirty odd years ago.

Would've loved to get a photo with Messi but the poor kid was swamped. He went into the team bus pretty quickly so I didn't even get an autograph :(. Might go back tomorrow or Monday if I get a chance. For those who are interested they are staying at the Langham Hotel on Southbank and enter their bus from the rear entrance.

Can't see it happening mate. Big call calling a team who have won 2 world cups chokers and overrated.
yes, I was being stupid.

but what teams have achieved with different players in different era's has little relevance to the present. winning 2 WC's doesn't mean this current group of players don't crumble under pressure. (I'm not implying for or against)

they aren't so much chokers but underachievers may suit the dresser more.
favourites? at the last WC and bounced out on penalties after creating little against the inferior talented Germany side. and then against Brazil.... most people were tipping them for success in that final and from all reports their performance was pathetic.

They deserved to beat Germany and should've. Germany by the way was playing their best football in over 10 years and had the home advantage - little surprise also the Italians only narrowly managed to get past them. Apart from that they were the most attractive side in the world cup, to me that means a lot more than organised Italians or defensive Brazilians. What can be said is that they possibly hit form too early in the tournament, like Spain.

In the last copa final they had everything going against them, namely a Brazilian goal after 2 minutes, with Argentina's attempt(s) hitting the post. Wrong match to draw big conclusions.

That said, they lost in Norway a couple of weeks ago. None of the players are probably happy to be here in the first place, why would the match be one sided?

Argentina will comfortably beat Australia. Messi will make Australia's defence look like pre-schoolers.
