Great article.

The general feeling from forums is that people have been questioning his work ethic. Glad to see he has acknowledged it and is working hard it. Hopefully he can get himself in the seniors next year and make an impact.

Imagine him and Hurn on either flanks running it out of 50, we wouldn't need players in between the 50 metre lines!

Really good leadership from Selwood as well. Warms the heart haha

Good to hear that he is aware that he needs to extract the digit. I look forward to seeing him show some more effort for Perth, before I'm totally convinced though. He has all the natural ability any player could ask for.

Also, someone needs to take him down to see Ryan Houlihan's barber.

When you wake up do you just smell of failure or do you spray some sort of failure deodorant on?

Agree with the sentiments above.. I saw his 1st WAFL game first-hand and I was very worried about his tendency to just stand off packs and and then walk off in the general direction of the ball.

It's a relief to see he doesn't really have a poor attitude - it's more a case of youthful naivety than anything else.

Gotta say too - Sellers you champion. True leader.

Meh the jury's still out in Smith. An article like this doesn't mean that we now know he has a good attitude, it really complements Selwood more than him.

Absolute champion Selwood the lift from Smith was very noticable in his games as well great leadership and fantastic to see.

Agree with the naivety bit too adagio, rather then actually being lazy he is just layed back and casual. That will change as he gets older as well and he will be more switched on.

I disagree, the article on its own would be hard to believe but coupled with the fact that he has notably improved on the field means his attitude has improved. This article outlines that, and the reasons why.

I am really excited about seeing Smith in action. Good article and I tell you what, Selwood is a true club Champion.
Cant express how proud I am of him right now.

Well ask any Victorian and they will tell you how talented Smith is. He simply just ran around everyone at TAC level and would then spot up Scully on the forward flank and hit him on the chest from 40-60m away.

It could be a case that he is very talented but he will still need to do allot more to get selected on current form, as an outside midfielder/ flanker he will need two preseasons of endurance work to really show somthing but hes got flare and decent skills so hes worth holding onto.

Yeah but that's just because he knows he has to or the coaches will give him a hiding. Don't get me wrong, you may well be right, but all im saying is that plenty of players show good a attitude in patches, but don't sustain it. A first year player appearing to have a bad attitude and being directed to improve by a senior player, and then his form improving does not mean we can automatically assume that he has 'come of age' or something like that. I'm not saying that I think he does have a bad attitude, I'm just saying that we still don't know anything really....

Yeah fair enough, I guess what im reading is that he has improved now and wether it lasts or not is a thread for another day. Im just celebrating the fact that the kid is starting to show something now and im pretty impressed with him so far.
