Correct. His dad John played for NSW actually and taught business studies at aforementioned high school. Chris would have been about 5 at the time of the move.he was born in NSW but his dad got a job with WA cricket and obv moved with him.
Was very impressed when I got a chance to watch him in the ODD match against Queensland, lovely action and gives it a rip, not a massive spinner of the ball but he's no hauritz or beer.
Has yet to bowl on a spin friendly wicket at first class level.
It's extremely unlikely 'cause he's only there from the 9th-16th, a week in which WA have no games and when there's a tour game in India in which there's a spot to fill (and i guess leaving doherty back here instead of playing in that game is worth discussing). It also allows them to pick another young spinner (eg Boyce, Zampa, Turner etc) for the first couple of Aus A games against the England Lions.
What about the wicket where O'Keefe took 8 wickets? I thought he played in that match.
Wasn't particularly spin friendly. O'Keefe just takes wickets on all pitches. Remember the seaming green top on which he took 4/80 against England for Australia A?
If it seams it spins.
If it seams it spins.
Sorry, what?
It's an old/well-known cricket saying.
But completely false. It seaming isn't necessarily a barrier to getting it to spin, but a green-top is generally not conducive to turning the ball.
Mick Beer was playing premier cricket for St Kilda, wasn't getting a look in because Jon "everybody think's I'm the next big thing though I actually haven't done anything" Holland was set in stone for the role. Mickey Arthur goes to WA, new policy of playing a front line spinner every game regardless of conditions and Beer has his opportunity.Of more concern is how is it that two quality left arm tweakers have left us to pursue opportunities in the West. Surely Holland isn't casting that big a shadow that there is no place for any competition?
Jim Laker disagrees.
he absolutely is. Holland has gone on two aus a tours, been called into the aus OD team a couple of times and pretty much gone to the centre of excellence at every opportunity. CA and CV love him.
he looks handy enough but i can only get so excited about finger spinners. we're crying for a leggy.
Why? All the best spinners in the world right now are finger spinners.
