Terrible if true. Only have to go back through this short thread to see how turbulent the development of this game was. My fear is that if started off a genuine Soviet Bioshock, hit some speed bumps and was revived with a greater vision and then suffered from scope creep. So many of the features announced in the last couple months have never in any point since 2018 been mentioned previously. I guess I can stick to Like a Dragon Ishin and Destiny 2 Lightfall and follow this post launch.

A few 6/10s, highest I've seen is a 7/10. I'll be curious to see the DLC.

Edit: there's some 8/10s, the odd 9/10 floating around.

The setting is intriguing, so I'll give it a shot.

Played a bit tonight, enjoying it so far. The combat is passable, have only unlocked a couple of upgrades. The world is very cool. The voice acting of your character is probably the weakest part, it's pretty bad. Stealth needs a bit of a patch too, enemies can see you very easily from far away with no warning or meter. Probably would have been better just not bothering with that game mechanic. Maybe there are upgrades for it though.

There is enough here to make me want to play more so far.

Waiting for Day 1 patch to finish installing on Series X, but have Hogwarts in the meantime. Reviews are mixed, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy. Curious to know when the DLC is out, though.

The combat isn't the best but apparently it picks up as the game goes on

The graphics, scenery and music are on point though

I don't mind the voice over (the main character sounds like V from Cyberpunk) and considering its a Russian developer I didn't expect amazing english voice/dialogue

This game seems like one that you will either love or hate. Either rated highly or rated dismally.
feel there will be a lot of hate/bad reviews purely because it is from a Russian developer

I'm still enjoying it. Had a couple of bugs which resulted in having to reload saves but there are so many save and checkpoints it's forgiveable.

Just cryo freezing the shit out of everything lol

Have already upgraded a ton, made a point to get the bigger inventory ones done early and loot every blue thing I see.

Those flying robots that repair defeated enemies are bloody annoying but at least you can farm them.

Sometimes it tries to be dying light but the climbing mechanics can be a bit clunky.

It's weird beautiful setting and I don't really know what is going on but that's part of the fun.

Haven't put a great deal of time in but it just feels like a pretty middling game to be honest. I'm a massive fan of BioShock, Prey et al so this looked right up my alley but it just isn't very exciting to play.

Have played a bit more and have more to say. I am really liking the ease of upgrading and how plentiful skill points are. The open world is beautiful and vibrant but is a bit annoying, it feels like you get punished for exploring, there are just massive clusters of enemies plastered way too close together. And having to bring down the hawks to stop the infinite repair/respawning is not something I enjoy. So more often I find myself just going straight to the missions now instead of looking around.

Also got softlocked in testing ground 8 because I went down a hole with balls dropping and you should be able to put them in a device that opens the next door but doesn't work at all. Very bugged still have to reload earlier saves.

Have also been stuck on environmental things more often than any other game I have played already. Just random little hills even,

There are definitely some pretty annoying things about this game, but so far the combat, visuals and weirdness is what is carrying it.

Finished it tonight.

Positives:

-Stunningly beautiful looking, facial animations are brilliant, not just cutscenes but in game play.
-Combat is fun and varied for the most part, including the boss fights except maybe the plyush things. Lifting up enemies made me feel like a Jedi almost. Alternative methods are easy to figure out and use
-The puzzles are mostly good
-Decent soundtrack, really enjoyed Nora's little jingle whenever you are in her menu
-Looting by vacuuming with your hand is satisfying, easy to upgrade your character

Cons

-"Crispy Critters"
-The open world design. Seriously, this game didn't need it. With no side quests, not much incentive. Should have been more linear like Bioshock. I think I took down maybe 1 hawk and didn't bother visiting any places that didn't include missions, so I probably explored only half the map if that.
-The bugs and glitches. This game is infested with them. Getting stuck in corners on cardboard boxes, rocks, or hay. Sometimes while climbing, my character glitches out, won't turn the corners, or simply just jumps off on his own accord without me pressing anything. As a result I gave up trying to get loot from certain areas.
-There is one area toward the end that spikes up the difficulty out of nowhere, where the player is required to quick time a locked door with a huge room of enemies, cameras and repair bots. It's badly designed and my shock effect on the repair bot spawn points simply did not work(glitch?), so by the time I killed half the enemies, the bots were already repairing them, essentially causing an infinite spawning. This gives you mere seconds to crack the lock. It almost made me quit.

I got what I guess is considered the 'bad ending' and it turns out Charles, your hand robot, is the bad guy. Not really sure how to feel about it given they were clearly teasing the 'mad scientist' angle with Sechenov. Was a bit of a swerve but didn't really feel like it landed right. But I saw the other ending and it looks pretty awkward too.

Overall, feels about a 6.0-6.5/10 range. Very fun at times, extremely annoying at others. This is Mundfish's first game I'm pretty sure, so taking that into account, not a bad effort I suppose.

I didn't mind the underground levels

It was once I got to the open world that I lost interest.

Might have to fire the game back up again
