Sam is currently in the process of being smashed by Sharapova. Chucked in 2 DF's at 30-30, 2-2 in the first set and been hitting errors all over the place ever since. Lol. She better pray or whatever else she does that she is on the opposite side of the draw at USO.

Djokovic. How is he still winning? He is serving like a joke, has been all tournament. You can see he's really fatigued, just not hitting with the same intensity. Fish was awesome against Nadal, absolutely awesome. Rafa's really struggling though.

I'll say Bercych in 2 and Fish in 3.

So in a way its similar to Serena winning AO a few years ago when she was as big as a house and numerous players had her on the ropes. He'll probably romp it in come US Open though.

What does everyone think about Nadal? It could be to early to call, but it seems as if he has lost a little this season. I have not really been impressed with many matches I have seen him play, including the French Open. I don't know whether it is an injury thing or a confidence thing or possibly family issues, but he is not the same player he was in 2010.

Djokovic has not been at his absolute best the last couple of weeks, but is still getting it done. For me he goes in as a clear favourite for the US Open. And maybe Murray might have a shot at it as well. If Murray were to meet Nadal in a semi I could see him winning it.

How is everyone going in their bracket? This is my best result all season, ranked 106th and picked all the 1/4 finalists as well as having Novak defeating Murray in the final.

I will take Murray def Djokovic in 3 sets for the final. Although i keep picking Novak to lose but he never does had a bet on last night for Berdych to beat him. But he retired.

Womens final is Sharapova Vs Jankovic. I will take Sharapova in 2. Suprised to see this run from Jankovic she hasnt been in great form all year.

Djokovic hasn't been quite at his best this tournament, so I'm thinking Murray in 3. That said, Novak will go into Flushing Meadows as the overwhelming favourite regardless of tomorrow morning's result.

As for the women, the final is between probably my two least favourite players full stop, so I have little interest in the result. Sharapova will probably win in straights though.

Some interesting results from the Cincy finals last night. Murray was up a set and 3-0 on Djokovic before he pulled the pin, hopefully its nothing serious and he isn't burnt out due to playing a shit load of matches.

Also interesting was the women's result, Sharapova took 3 sets to beat Jankovic who appears to have run into some form. I like Jankovic, not because of her tennis, but because she's such a drama queen and provides some good entertainment.

Did not see the final and not surprised it was a shoulder injury that Novak pulled out with considering he was not serving great in Cincinnati. But I have a problem with him pulling out at that stage of the match. Seriously, man up and give your opponent the title the way it deserves to be won. Would like to see some stats of how many big matches Djokovic has retired in, because it has happened to many times.

Give me a break mate!!!!

Yeah lets keep serving and further irritating the shoulder with the US Open a week away!!! To even get to that point in the match took enough pain tollerance, he was serving rubbish all week, clearly in pain, absolutely no point in making it worse.

I rate you mate, but that's rubbish!

The thing is I like Djokovic, I just cannot stand the fact he retires with 3 games to go in a Masters tournament and that he has a history of doing it at GS level. I understand that the US is in a week and it is more important than a MS tournament, but just play out the 3 games.

Like I said, I have not seen the match and he genuinely could not have possibly served out 2 more games. But if he could have, then I do not agree with the retirement.

His last retirement was AO 2009, I think that's behind him don't you? You act as though he retires whenever he gets down in matches. Most players would've retired at the end of the first set, like Berdych did. But because it's Novak, he'll cop it because of his history.

It's true. I gave him a spray because of his history. I have issues with players retiring in big matches. Was disgusted when Henin retired against Mauresmo in the AO final a few years ago.

Not fair of me to put across the belief that he retires every time he is down because I know that does not happen. Would be happy for Novak to win the US Open, certainly with his record this year he deserves it.

He's not been as good as last year no doubts at all.

How much Djokovich has played a part in that I don't know.

He seems to have also gone back to that thing that was seen most years where after the Wimbledon break he comes out into the pre US open hard court season in terrible nick.

He'll go out in the QFs the way he's looking at present.

Has Djok dented his self belief or was he just a level down anyway, hard to tell.

Usually I would agree with this sort of statement when it comes down to the final and especially with Djokovic's track record (sorry drummond, he's always going to have a retirement due to fatigue at a grand slam semi, that's always going to leave a mark). But yeah, he was clearly hurt, was getting any pop with that serve at all, had to make sure no damage was done for the US Open, it was clearly justified.

Pretty disappointing tournament in the end, the odd good match but too many injuries kind of hurt it.
