The draw has been released and it starts tonight. It is a joint tournament with the Women so I am not sure what the TV coverage will be. I am guessing ESPN for the mens matches and Eurosport for the Womens.

The defending champion is Rafa who is on a clay winning streak of 34 matches. Also on a new record for the start to a season winning streak is Djokovic who has won 26 matches this season without losing a single match.

This of course is the match up that everybody wants to see, Rafa vs Nole on clay. However, things are not so easy for Novak in order to get to the final. Just to make it out of his quarter he will most likely have to defeat Wawrinka and an in form Ferrer.

Will Fed/Murray be able to do anything here? Not too sure.

Don't forget to make your picks in the fantasy competition. Can't wait for it to start tonight. Below is the draw.

My pick for the final is a 3rd straight final between Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer.

Good job mate!! I might try and get something up today, if not then tomorrow.

Almagro lost to Tsonga. I had him down to make the Quarters, great start.

Yeah me too. Also Dolgopolov lost the first round i had making the third. Coverage begins tonight on ESPN for the men at 10:00. Then on Eurosports for the women at 8:00.

Wawrinka also lost against Garcia-Lopez, so a few surprises to start up already. That might mean Roddick wins tonight.

Stosur won her first round match although was taken to 3 sets by Dulko, another match with Hantuchova next.

Stosur gets through 7-6 7-5.:thumbsu: Wanted to watch the Del Potro/Youzhny match but you cant even see the ball on the outside courts. So now i have to watch Wozniacki/Jovanovski.

It's shocking, isn't it? Delpo absolutely mauling Youzhny at the moment, won the first set 6-1, so you're not missing much.

Very decent match this between Wozniacki/Jovanovski. Bojana is definitely one of my favourite young players, could be almost anything.

As for being able to see the ball, I agree it's not great. If you've got ESPN HD, it makes a noticeable difference, still not ideal, but much better than SD.

I think it actually caused Hantuchova to lose,:D she reacted like a little girl.

Good win for Jarmila, she hit 56 winners.

Yeah i saw that thought it was pretty funny.:D I dont think it caused her to lose the match she was two points away from losing and IMO would have lost anywyas. Thats an awesome win for Jarka consedring Radwanska's form.:thumbsu: Give her a good shot againt Safarova or Jankovic. Also Stosur should get the job done next round. Then a tough matchup against Wonzniacki.

Well Sam had a very disappointing straight sets losss against Pavlyuchenkova. Its hard to comment from a live score but she certainly had her chances to break, and I'm not sure she broke at all. I watched a few points of her previous match and even the commentators were saying she wasn't using her brain in regards to her returning. Her not being able to return kills her more than her backhand. Unless she pulls some form out of her arse she will not make it past 4th round at FO. Her ranking is going to plummet.

Gajdosova also lost in straights to Safarova, but I still think she's still more likely to get further in the FO than Sam.

How good is Goerges?! My goodness. I love the way she hits her forehand, that strange wind up and such wristy action. Beating Wozniacki for the second time in as many weeks is going to be tremendous for her confidence. I'm also not sure I've seen a prettier player than her, everything about her is just stunning. I love her enthusiam too, plays with such emotion. I hope she makes a deep run at the French.

+1 to everything you said.:thumbsu:

in her defence, Sam is not suited by Madrid because conditions are very fast (being at altitude) which works against her wristy strokes and suits flatter hitters like Pavlyuchenkova (who is going to be top 10 payer before too long). she still lacks confidence though - had break back points in the 2nd set but played too safely...

I don't particularly care for this Madrid tournament. The surface is clay but it plays almost like a hardcourt (very fast and hard). Not very good preparation for the French, thankfully they altered the schedule and have Rome as the lead-up to the French. The crowds are also pretty poor, the main stadium court is always reasonably attended but the two other showcourts you’ll rarely find them even a quarter full, especially for the women’s matches.

really if federer couldnt beat rafa on his fast hardcourt :D he cant beat him anywhere. The couirt was unbelievably fast. After a rubbish first set rafa picked up game up.Federer was as aggressive as he possibly could be, hit 37 winners but commited more errors..but thats the price you pay if you want to outhit Rafa.

16-8 .....GOAT :D
