Thought it would be worth starting a thread for those tournaments that fall in between the grand slams.

The men are straight into it from today with three tournaments. Seems that many players are taking the week off as a result of the Open as there isn't many big names playing.

The SA Open (Hard Court) in Johannesburg has Baghdatis, Jo-Wilfired and Ferrer as the main drawcards.

Andreev, CIlic and karlovic are the top three seeds in the PBZ Zagreb Indoors (Hard).

The Movistar Open in Chile (Clay) has Gonzalez as the main drawcard.

Semi Finals:

Johannesburg:
Tsonga (1) vs Gil
Chardy (5) vs Ferrer (2)

Vina Del Mar:
Gonzalez (1) vs Cuevas
Acasuso (4) vs Robredo (2)

Zagreb:
Ancic (7) vs Hernych
Troicki vs Cilic (2)

The draw is out for Rotterdam, the first ATP 500 event of the season, meaning it is worth double the amount of points as these ATP 250 events.

Very good lineup for the tournament with the seeds:
1. Nadal
2. Murray
3. Davydenko
4. Simon
5. Monfils
6. Ferrer
7. Tsonga
8. Soderling

Other players include Berdych, Gasquet, Ancic, Andreev, Youzhny and Mathieu.

Costa do Sauipe and San Jose are the other tournaments starting next week.

Semi Finals:

Johannesburg:
Tsonga (1) vs Gil
Chardy (5) vs Ferrer (2)

Vina Del Mar:
Gonzalez (1) vs Cuevas
Acasuso (4) vs Robredo (2)

Zagreb:
Ancic (7) vs Hernych
Troicki vs Cilic (2)

Ancic-Cilic :thumbsu:

I rate Cilic.

Finals this week:

Johannesburg:
Tsonga (1) vs Chardy (5) - You've gotta go with Tsonga but Chardy is a rising star and had a good win against Ferrer in the semis.

Vina Del Mar:
Gonzalez (1) vs Acasuso (4) - Gonzalez should win in front of his home crowd.

Zagreb:
Ancic (7) vs Cilic (2) - Cilic should win his second title of the year against an improving Ancic.

Top seeds for the other 2 tournaments next week:

Costa do Sauipe:
1. Almagro
2. Robredo
3. Montanes
4. Acasuso

San Jose:
1. Roddick
2. Del Potro
3. Blake
4. Stepanek

I'm gonna tip the 3 winners as Nadal, Almagro and Del Potro

Few Aussies in action next week.

In San Jose, we have Hewitt drawing 5th seed Mardy Fish, tough match but defiantely winnable for Lleyton, i think he played him a couple of times last year, lost to him in indian Wells, that i think he might of beaten heim at RG, or am i thinking of someone else. Anyway needs the results to start going for him here, just so he has some points by the time he gets to Indian Wells where he defends 4th round points. Plus, Guccione got in direct (entry list was done before he fell out of the top 100) and faces him Canas in the first round, Canas has been a bit sketchy so if the Gooch is awake and concentrates he might be a chance, don't think a good match up from him though, think he got pretty handily by him on hardcourt somewhere before.

In the womens at Pattaya, Jarmilia Groth is playing Voskoboeva, got to be honest, don't know much about here and same for Jess Moore's oppoenent (yes, she got in the main draw, weak list), she's playing Neuza Silva of Portugal.

Love your work mate.

I happened to see a fair bit of Galina Voskoboeva during the Aussie summer. In Sydney it was pretty hot and I was looking for shade and there was shade next to a practice court so I watched her and Sophie Ferguson train for a while. Then in Melbourne I caught two of her doubles games as she was playing with Safarova. She’s a pretty decent player, is very tall and has a reasonably effective serve. Had some good wins at the AO including beating Szavay first up before eventually retiring against Petrova in the 3rd Round.

Pic wasn't really necessary but oh well. :p And despite all that I think Groth has a pretty good chance at victory here. I’ve been impressed with her this year; she’s in great shape and certainly has the power to win first up.

Jessica Moore has certainly had her fair share of luck in regards to draws. She really should win here if she’s looking to make her move in the rankings however I find it hard to believe she will.

Hopefully Hewitt can get a win against Fish. Fish is pretty ordinary and get him in rallies and he'll eventually make the error. Unfortunately that's how Hewitt goes these days too. As for the Gooch, whenever he wins I'm surprised. I don’t think I’ll be surprised here.

Thanks Drummond with that report, jarmila really should of beaten Razzano at AO, had a 4-2 lead in the 3rd and she fell away at the end. Hopefully, she can win this one.

As for Jess, she's lucky to be in a WTA Main Draw is all I'll say.

Not completely surprising, Canas is playing awfully at the moment, just a matter whether the Gooch was concentrating at crucial times of the match. I actually put a little bit on him. Hopefully he can keep going and his new coach and him are working out well.

Lleyton to play later today

Jess Moore and Jarmila Groth both lost in Pattya, Moore losing 6-1, 6-2 to Silva, not surprising, she is playing terribly. Jarmila lost in 3 sets.

Pretty bad week for the aussies last week, this week, all of the main ones are playing around the place.

Hewitt is in memphis and got another horrible draw, against james Blake. Tough match, if he can't beat Fish, I'm not sure how he's going to beat James but we'll see. The Gooch is trying to qualify and surprsingly won his first round qualy match, needs to win his next match tomorrow to qualify, plays Amer Delic, big serve-a-thon there. Come down to mental toughness in the tiebreaks you would think :(

In the women's side, we had Dokic qualifying and funnily enough has drawn Wozinacki in the first round. I think caro should be able to win this time as long as she stays consistent but a fairly poor week in Pattya, defiantely a tough one to pick. This will be interesting to see how Dokic goes now she traveling the tour.

In Dubai, didn't realise it was a 48 draw bu Sam and Casey are playing. Sam has Rybarikova, she could face Serena in the third if Sam palys up to her standard. Casey has Schaivone, if she wins a game contiuning the way she is playing, there should be a celebration. I shouldn't be harsh though, she does still have shoulder issues.

In this week's action, Roberdo won the tournament in Barzil, Murray-nadal play in Rotterdam. While Fish is still waiting for the winner out of Stepanek-Roddick, which Radek is actually a break up ion the third.

Rotterdam (500) Semis:
Nadal (1) def Monfils (5) 6-4 6-4
Murray (2) def Ancic 6-1 6-2

Costa do Sauipe (250) Final:
Robredo (2) def Bellucci 6-3 3-6 6-4

San Jose (250) Semis:
Stepanek (4) def Roddick (1) 3-6 7-6(5) 6-4
Fish (5) def Blake (3) 6-3 6-2
