Had my doubts about him after the injury troubles last year and his form earlier in the season, but saw enough today to suggest he'll be around for a long time to come.

I also don't understand the complaints about his weight, or as they euphemistically put it, his 'condition'. One of Aussie's strengths is his ability to put himself about, in and under packs; he has a hardness at the ball that both Bennell and Jurrah lack.

There is no greater sight than watching both him and Liam running flat-out towards goal with the ball in hand or sight. Jurrah's goal off the ground today was just ridiculous, he never even thought about picking it up.

Put simply, he was carrying too much weight when he first returned and it affected his noted agility. But I agree he is looking better and better with each match.

I don't know how you can be confident about him being around for a long time - given what we know about problem hammies and how they can plague players and how they can recur at any time. But I think we can say that barring a problem-hammy, he has a strong future ahead of him.

One thing you wouldn't look at him and rate is his marking, but as far as I've seen it's fantastic, especially under pressure.

Best small forward in the team and yes he is hard at it.

Doesn't get a lot of it but his work rate, pressure and finishing are fantastic.

EDIT - Just watched his goal again. <3333333333333333333333333333333333

And there's the way he energises the team as a whole, as I've always said. That certainly makes a big difference as well.

There's a reason we've won 4 out of 6 games with Aussie in the lineup in 2010. If only we'd had him playing regular first-team football earlier on this season...

He does having good dukes when on the lead, but he can't be expected to take contested grabs regularly... why did we kick it high to him so often yesterday? At least 3 or 4 times, he was the target around HF, generally outnumbered and always several inches shorter than the defender. How can he end up being our only marking target there so often?
