IMO she's one to keep an eye on and she has genuine talent. I know starting a thread like this is a bit risky because she could do an Annabel Ellwood but I think she’s too good for that. She's only 17 years of age and comfortably won her 1st round match against Julie Ditty, dropping only 5 games. I was at her 2nd round match against Peer and she started very slowly in front of a vocal crowd. Peer’s one of these annoying players who gets everything back and Moore found the going tough early as she struggled with Peer’s game and her nerves. She lost the first set without winning a game but her performance in the 2nd set gave me a lot of hope for the future. She was engaged in a very tight struggle but unfortunately lost 7-5 in 56 minutes. To put up a fight like that after what happened in the 1st was a very good effort.

She is technically pretty sound. She hits well off both sides and she has a more than acceptable serve. The winner count was 23-7 in Peer’s favour and she was all too often passed despite being in a respectable position on the court. Peer passed her with ease at times however I think she has great potential. She has a solid game, and once she improves her vollies and adds some strength and power to her game she could be a great prospect for Australian tennis. That's the main area of improvement, adding strength to her frame.

She won her girls singles match 6-1, 6-2 today and should go quite far in that event.

Yeah, I saw that she won her girls singles match in a canter.

Didn't know you were over here for the Open Drummo. Wouldn't have minded meeting up as I was at the tennis on Day 3 too. I had to leave before Moore took the court unfortunately but I was at MCA all day until Jankovic called her injury timeout.

I live in the town not far from where Jess grew up and while not "growing up" with her I have taken an active interest in her results.

She is a very good player and for her age has a bright future. Someone in another thread said that she cant match it with the Kusnetsova's (She lost to her 6-0, 6-2 last year) of the world and hasnt got the game or experience to be a WTA player...

NO SHIT

She's 17 and has a bright future. Given a few years of experience at this level (which is the point of the wildcard concept) and she will be a very good player

She has also been added to the squad for Australia's Fed Cup team, replacing Nicole Pratt.

By the way our local rag paper ran the following headline last Wednesday (its a weekly paper

I was watching a double match the other day and hadn't seen Carston Ball play before. I was fairly impressed. Did he just have a good game or is his ranking a true indication of where he is at?

Todd Reid board.
You know, you really annoy me at times. From your constant anti-Australian posts on the cricket board to your overly negative and ill-informed comments on this board.

You have a crack at Hewitt saying he was being spanked after it had just gone 2 sets to love. For 2 sets it was extremely tough and tight tennis and by that call it would appear you’re a scoreboard fan and only call a game by what it says on the scoreboard. Now you have a dig at Moore when she’s a great young prospect. Did you see her at the Australian Open? She might have been downed in straight sets but even when she was being comprehensively beaten in the first set she still displayed promise. She was getting the ball in good areas and had plenty of chances to win points but through a nerves, a lack of experience and a solid opponent she was outclassed. What she did show however was good composure to get back into the match and some great signs for the future.

It is called being realistic and objective, not some patriotically blinded idiot.

He was getting spanked. From 4-2 in the first he lost 15 of the next 21 games, and whilst Lleyton was fighting hard Novak was far too classy and was able to switch into a higher gear when required.

Lleyton has exceptional mental and physical virtues, but his game is limited. The older he gets the more the men's game is getting away from him. If you cannot see that then you are blinded by fan boy love.

FFS I was giving her a compliment as I think she is a talented junior you jerk off.

Why do you consider a reference to Todd Reid to be negative? If she has half the success he had at junior level she'd be very happy indeed I would think.

You posted what you did after the 2nd set, so don't give me a statistic which includes the 3rd set because that's not when you posted. The match was extremely tight for 2 sets and Djokovic had to fight hard to take the lead. And of course I can see his career is dwindling, he's obviously not the player he was 5 years ago.

How the heck would a comment like, "Todd Reid board" be considered anything BUT negative? Seriously, Reid was considered a good up and coming Australian player and a few years later he's nowhere to be seen.

No it was actually at 4-2 in the third, and by the end of the second set Novak was well and truly on top.

If she was 21 then it would be a negative comment, but she is only a kid who I hope can emulate Todd at junior level.

Just hope she doesn't get all the media hype and pressure Todd did when he moved to the senior tour.

On top for sure, spanking? No way. You don't play 2 hours for 2 sets and have it considered a spanking. He won the big points, and won two 8 minute games, but on the whole I thought it was far from a spanking.

Fair enough, just a misunderstanding I guess. You were referring to Todd Reid as in having a successful junior career when I thought you were having a dig at Moore. All good.
