It seems like shit is hitting the fan in developed countries this year more than any other in recent times. A note to all the atrocities that have happened in poorer nations as well.

Meanwhile the bigger news stories in the last month here include Eddie Mcguire(among others) saying something stupid about a well known female journalist. Steve Price describing someone acting in an overbearing manner toward him as 'hysterical' and Sonia Kruger making a bigoted statement.

Lets take a moment to realise just how ****ing lucky we all are to live in this part of the world.

If you wade through the name calling and instantaneous labeling, the silver lining is that we're at least discussing sensitive issues and putting forth opinions, which are important.

While we're lucky, I don't think the three examples underline privilege or whatever your other point may have been.

Although, the fact that the Taylor Swift/Kim Kardashian/Kanye West feud has been blowing up on my facebook feed for the past 48 hours may be a blight, but expected nonetheless.

I have a twitter friend who is throwing the toys out of the cot over her low tax refund and not having a stable job in her field, despite the fact she earned close to 80,000 in the last year and is doing so much better than tens of thousands of thise who have graduated from uni since she did.

Life is not as bad as some think it is.

Haha, I remember someone in England who was on $80,000 AUD complaining that they had to payback HECS to Aus in the future. I'm like you basically left Aus to cheat the system and you're crying because they're cracking down on it.

Also for extra points, they are also complaining about rich people minimising their tax. :$.

Don't know her circumstance or motivation. May want kids and can't do it due to unstable employment. May be mentally ill and/or cooked and want to retire. May simply be out of gas and can not mentally and physically work anymore. You simply don't know the circumstance.

Still agree. 99.999% of Australians in the same boat and endless whinging shits me to tears.

Based on your name and post, I'm guessing she's an engineer in oil and gas?

Tell her to go agency. I'm a nurse too and can't get a permanent job after leaving my old one due to bullying. It's da bomb. Good money. You choose when you work. Shorter shifts. What's not to like?
