Indeed. One of the best "old" Aussie bands of that pub-rock generation, IMO. I'm not going to profess to be an expert on the subject, but I'm a fan of most of their big, well-known hits.

I'd have Reckless in my top-ten Aussie songs, I reckon.

In my opinion they're an annoying 80's type band, but make catchy music and definitely have songwriting ability. For that, I voted yes.

Reckless = wrong. Just plain wrong.

But one of our better bands. Can't listen to them anymore but I used to be right into them early to mid eighties. The opening to Oh No Not You Again is some impressive guitar work from an Aussie.

Yes, they were one of the better bands that came out of that classic era of Pub Rock. A lot of their song have stood the test of time.

I've heard many people say that, which always surprises me. I'm a sucker for a slow chant-rock type song that has a constant beat and low note chorus, though, so I guess that's why I like it. Could understand how Aussie Crawl fans wouldn't like it, given it's a bit out of the box compared to most of their others.

The Boys Light Up
Sirocco
Errol
Beautiful People (my favorite)
Downhearted
Reckless
Lakeside

Classic Aussie good time surf pub rock. Good, good band. Excellent songwriters and clever lyrics. Not as good as the Mentals though.

(pretty crap live though, by all accounts. Never saw them though)

Written and sung by Guy McDonough. (Solo by Simon Binks.)

McDonough also co-wrote Errol (sung too), Downhearted and Things don't seem.

IMHO, I think he was the talented one of the band, but sadly died in Feb 1984 from pnuemonia. (sp?)

Brother Bill was also the drummer in the band.

Great band, Phalanx is a great live album.

Dont be so reckless in saying that the beautiful people who were Australian Crawl were bad.Even Errol liked it and he knew some mean sons of beaches.

Anyway enough of this its time to party so come on boys..light up

Used to love that album when I was about 13. "Saw Barry Gibb and he was Stayin' Alive".

I'm not a fan of Luenig, but how good is the album cover and the cartoon on the back depicting James Reyne in his dressing room? The cartoon on the front is probably the only Luenig cartoon that i've ever "got".

I liked thier music back in the early to mid 80's when I was growing up.
Don't hear it a lot now, but still like it.

My two favourites were "Downhearted" and "Errol".

Back was good too with the pic of Reyne and the hair gel. :)

Still have the album on vinyl and now had it for over 20 years.

They were my inspiration as a young dude. I loved the whole 'skeg' look and beat. Their music was almost bluesy.

Did you know James Reyne wrote most of the songs and refuses to play some of them now even though they're classics. He will not play Hucci Gucci Fiorucci, which I reckon is a real shame. He wrote it when he was a teenager, this guy's a bloody genius!

There was a curse with Aussie Crawl - the guitarists had it. Two or three deaths and I think Simon Binks nearly died. Pity really.

Errol is one of my all time favourite songs and an awesome video to boot. Shot at the old Grundy's on the Gold Coast and if anyone can remember that place, it was a real hoot!
