My (unsolicited) advice for the Poms: let the ball go for a little, stop shining it and putting moisture on it. Let it dry out a little, and see what you've got to work with in a few overs if it's not swinging.

But then, taking a bit of time between balls and overs is the point, really. Their bowling's not really producing chances, the closest they've looked to getting a wicket came first from his inability to hit 4 runs (from 96 to 100) and didn't produce a chance, then relief and they put those down. Watch for the over rate plummeting before the end of the day, then watch them try to fit in a few more just before stumps.

It's like, every series we play in England, we forget. "Oh, Stuart Broad is bowling full, that looks like a driveable length, I'm going after that!"

It's why everyone else belts him around the park; they leave the ball outside off, block him on the stumps, and wait until he bowls too straight to place him either side of square leg. Can we just not forget next time, play him like the mortal he is when you're not falling for his single trick?

That’s a good comparison for Smith’s effort this time round. All he needs to do next time is tote up 978 runs. Needs a triple century to achieve this.

That was a disappointing end to the series. We were behind the 8 ball in this match right from the start when we won the toss and sent them in to bat.

We let the English off the hook a few times in this series.
