I have to agree with what Jim said tonight about the best thing for Tomic it would seem is having 2 of the next generation Aus tennis players coming through and improving. If the threat of falling behind in the peaking order doesn't give him a reality check to work hard I dont know what would.

on a less serious note:
Wrestling fans should get this!

Bouchard Update: Plays Lauren Davis (rank 68) tomorrow, 2nd match of the day.

Also has a doubles game with Vera Dushevina (Russian, but unfortunately not Maria Sharapova) against Valeria Solovyeva and Elina Svitolina.

*Bouchard doing an unusual form of tricep dips to get ready for tomorrows big matches.

Been looking for a podcast from 3AW. Idiot in charge of heat policy was interviewed and said how we used to chase antelopes in Africa for 8 hours so we should be able to play a few hours of tennis in the heat.

Reference to that here: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/tennis/25755065

Why don't two opposing players agree to not play? Say Sharapova and Knapp at 3-3 in the 3rd. Would they both be DQ'd and their next round opponent gets a bye?

Did Google, was not overly rushing off to grab the Kleenex. Never mind, Genie shall carry this match...

Disappointed JMDP couldn't go on, everytime I think he'll run deep he gets bundled out early and when I write him off, he makes the semi's. Will forgive and follow again.

Lastly, although would've been great for Kyrgios to win, it's not the worst thing that him and Kokkinakis are now out. They've shown more than enough ability already, but the wraps were getting a little OTT for mine. This will just temper the excitement slightly and we can let them grow and mature as they will with time.

Spent $75 on Rod Laver tickets for tonight. Ended up leaving during the 2nd set of the Murray match to watch Kyrgios. Did not regret it one bit.

Kid has so much talent and heart. Looked like he wanted to give up in the final set but the crowd really helped lift him. A few reminded him of Bernie and I think that stuck with him and he fought it out to the end. So proud. Has a bright future and it won't be long before he and Kokkinakis take the headlines and sponsors instead of Bernie.

Just got home, what a day of tennis. Was on hisense for Tsonga, Radwanska, Fed and Monfils. Saw a bit of Sloane, a little of Del Po and all of Kyrgios/Paire. Great match, thought Kyrgios served out of the box on break points in the first 3 sets, with more of a fitness base behind him he will win those matches.
Awesome day! :thumbsu:

Personally as a spectator, last night was probably the most heartbreaking thing that I've ever seen in sport! More specifically I'm talking about that game where Kyrgios was receiving and basically he was a sitting duck, he couldn't do anything but watch the ball fly past him. He was injured but never gave up because he had a dream and that dream was to go far into the tournament. Tomic on the other hand, doesn't have dreams of succeeding! He's only there to collect his paycheck, act like a douchebag and act like he's superior to all of us! Guy has no guts. He chickened out against Nadal as soon as he knew that he couldn't beat him (as if that wasn't obvious from before the match.) Thank you Kyrgios for that wonderful display of heart and determination!! You're going to be a star mate!! Same goes to Kokkinakis!!

Though he definitely needs to tweak his game a bit. He needs to calm down a little bit. He's has to make smarter shots. Right now he smashes the ball far too often. I still can't get over that shot that he made down set point. CRAZY!!!!

BTW, if Kyrgios maintains his current ranking, would he be able to qualify for the next grand slam (French Open)??

That Doctor is in la-la land making comments like this

I really hope Bernard was watching that game last night, but I have a suspicion he was clubbing
LOL he was last seen early thismorning leaving a rave party on the Gold Coast - people on the scene said he was dancing hard and there was no sign of any groin injury.

Tomic needs to be sent back to the show courts next year if he doesn't get his shit together.

Really spewing that there is cricket on today, which is strange of me to say. I really want to see Casey's game today. I'm personally supporting her more than Sam. Don't know why.

It won't be enough unfortunately to get direct entry to Roland Garros.

His ranking will probably go up by about 15 places after his performance at the Australian Open.

Unfortunately he has a fair few ranking points to defend over the next few months (150 points in total)

Challengers
Semi Final in West Lakes Challenger
Won Tournament Sydney Challenger

Futures
Australian F1 QF
Australian F2 1R
China F1 SF
China F2 F
China F3 Won

That being said after those tournaments he does have an entire month of the clay season to gather ranking points, And he may decide to possibly enter some Spanish Challenger events or European Challenger events as they will bring in a higher amount of ranking points on offer.

Thank being said even if he can't get his ranking up into the top 100 by the French open (I think this is pretty unlikely), I still think he would nearly be a lock to get the Australian Wildcard into the French open.

Kyrgios match was epic last night. Kid has Top 10 written all over him if he can recognise when to come forward and finish the point off at the net.

Countless times he was content to stay back and let Paire dig out slice forehands down the centre of the court.
