Great backhand to finish. :thumbsu:

I suppose, but I would like to see her neutralize the serve, the more points she's in, the more she will win. It is a good thing that she loses games on her own racquet though, it means she is dictating the play. I will follow her with interest at the bigger WTA tournaments to see how she goes in that regard and whether she can get some consistency back over the year. You don't make a Wimbledon final for no reason.
I just think players have sort of worked her out a bit. No doubt her form's dropped and she can play better than she has been, but she's also being played very differently than she was in 2014. Back then I feel players were a bit more passive against her, trying to expose her unforced errors by working the ball back. Now you see even the likes of Radwanska trying to attack her game and push her off the line more, and she hasn't really been able to find a way to combat that. So many of her losses in the last two years have been against heavy hitters and more and more players have clued onto that.

I do agree with what you're saying though, I just don't think it's as easy as being more defensive on return. I think if she does do that frequently it's going to give the server the opportunity to take control of the point - a situation she really hates. The two things I think she desperately needs to improve on are her defensive game (i.e. neutralising those who can push her off the line) and her depth of shot when she's pushed back. Either that, or she needs to add a net game to make herself even more dangerous offensively. Until that happens, and she gets her confidence back, I struggle to see her truly contending. But stranger things have happened in women's tennis...

Despite the loss Bouchard played very well. That's the best she played since mid last year

her first set v Cibulkova in Hobart is the best she has played this year. she actually played well that tournament to make the final, only to fall apart in the end.

i mean Cornet is a good player, lovely girl, but u shouldnt be losing to her 6-1 and 6-2 in a hour.

'Tomas Berdick'

**** OFF BASIL
I really don't get the lack of professionalism in sport commentary/journalism and this is the worst example of it in my opinion. You know what players will be playing, so surely you give their names a quick two minute Google before you go on air? Or better yet, just ask the freaking player? It's the same in footy too, but obviously the names aren't quite as diverse. It's just frustrating.

It can't be that hard to do some homework and check the correct pronouncation of the names

If she manages to dropt the error count I think she will be fine. In that regard it's just a matter of hours of practice. She seems very rushed though. Maybe if she slows down a bit she will improve. Her next biggish tournament should be Doha so I might have sneaky glance at that in about a month's time.
