Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to the awards night for this years Mobb, Tiger_TFLUA and EKA medals. We've all seen the brilliant red carpet show and now we're just going to jump straight on into the count below.

Round 1 is brought to us by Frothies McVeigh:

After another long off season the moment all SFA players had been waiting for was here. The chance to start a new season fresh, for some players this meant the start of an career, for others it was a chance to impress the masses, whilst for a lot of the older blokes it was simply another game. The season started off with a bang, the ever professional Wonders kicked off their campaign with a big win over the gallant Gumbies. Returning player Frothies Mcveigh made a statement in his first game back in the blue and gold with 34 touches and 2 goals. All round top bloke Wise Guy Sam also played a blinder gathering 30 touches and 7 tackles. Both are likely to feature in the voting.

The Bombers got on the front foot early, setting aside claims of a possible premiership hangover after knocking off the always persistent Roys. Despite the ruck dominance from the Roys, the boys from Bahgdad made up for it with tackling pressure, out tackling the Roys 33 - 21. Consistent entertainer, and Bombers captain Beez dazzled the crowd with his possible best on ground performance after collecting 24 touches and grabbing 9 marks. Broken is no stranger to Mobbs Medal night and could feature yet again after being the best performer for the Roys.

Mount Buller kicked off Season 15 with a win, after coming from behind at half time to defeat Punt Road natives the Furies. Rhodesy Blues shone brightest in a new role as Full Forward, slotting a career best 6 goals from 10 scoring shots to lead the AlfAndrews early. The eventual Season 15 best on ground in the Grand Final player, Cutty was the stand out for the Furies amassing 21 touches to go along with his 6 marks and handful of hitouts.

East Side started Season 15 with a scalp of the previous seasons minor premiers, the Soithern Dragons. The battle was won in the third quarter when the hard hitting Hawks kicked out to a comfortable lead and didn't look back. Another player who stars on Mobbs Medal night is Larrikin, Round 1 was no exception as the Hawk big man (no pun intended) lead the field with a massive 36 disposals and 8 hitouts, can Larrikin make history and take out a third Mobbs Medal? From the Dragons side of things, break out poster MD made an impact early in a losing team with 19 touches, 12 hitouts and 7 tackles.

Round 1 was a round to remember, we saw the resurgence of old faces in Broken, we saw the silent superstar Larrikin run rampant, familiar faces returning home as Frothies Mcveigh hand balled his way into the Wonders midfield. Stay tuned for a good night fellow SFAians, we are yet to see the best of Eagleoz, will Wise Guy Sam's medal cabinet increase? Will we have another joint winner? Sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

So after round 1 we have 4 leaders at the top, I’m stunned. However it is worth noting that pre-count favourites Wise Guy Sam and Beez have both polled, premiership captain (Yeah I know I still can’t believe it’s not butter either) Shaun Duggan has polled and multiple Mobb medal winner Larrikin has also polled straight up. Could he be the first man to win 3?
We now welcome PVF to the stage to bedazzle us all.

ROUND 2

Geelong Gumbies Vs Fighting Furies at the House of Gumby

Both teams were looking to get off to a good start to the season after missing the finals last season with the Furies finishing second last and the Gumbies just missing out on the top 4 by a percentage difference of 1.69. The first week of the season saw the Furies fall short to last year’s Grand Finalist, Mount Buller by 17 points while the Gumbies were less than impressive in their loss to the Wonders by 39 points.

The game started off with a tight tussle for the first ten minutes with no-one getting the upper hand. However the Furies kicked it up a gear and slammed home the next six goals to get out to a handy 41 point lead at the end of the first quarter. The Gumbies got off to a hot start in the second, kicking the first three goals of the quarter to bring the margin back to 22 points. However the Furies were having none of that and slotted the next three goals after that. In the end both teams scored five goals each in the quarter for the Furies to finish with a 39 point lead at half time with the Furies already scoring more points than they did in their game last week. The third quarter saw both teams turn in on defensively with both teams only scoring a goal each in the quarter to see the Furies have a winning margin of 37 points heading into the last. With the game already in the bag the Furies forwards seem to be mucking around in front of goal with team kicking 8 behinds to their 4 goals while Gumbies managed on two goals and three behinds in the last quarter for the Furies to pull out a comfortable 54 point win.

Roys FC Vs East Side Hawks at Brunswick Junction Oval
The East Side Hawks were hoping to win something better than the wooden spoon after finishing last in season 14, while the Roys were hoping season 15 could bring them back into the finals after missing out the season before when they finished 6th on the ladder. The Hawks got off to a great start to the season, beating the Southern Dragons by 20 points. The Roys would start Round 2 of the season on bottom after their loss to the Bombers by 26 points; their 2 point penalty at the start of the season didn’t help the ladder position either.

This contest started off very tight with no team getting the upperhand early in the game. A late goal by Magpies2010 put the Hawks up 8 points heading into quarter time. The Roys got off to a flyer to start the second with the team kicking four of the first five goals in the term. A goal from Biggie got the score back to 6 points but after hitting the lead the Roys had all the momentum heading into half time. Two goals to Fred in the third quarter got the Roys fired up as the Roys won another tightly contested quarter to get the lead out to 20 points. The Hawks in the last quarter had plenty of chances to win this game but they weren’t looking good in front of goal with the Hawks kicking five straight behinds. Fred wanted to add more goals to his tally and kicked two more in quick succession to get his tally to 4 goals and give the Roys a 27 point lead with only minutes left in the game. Boncer kicked a goal only minutes later but it wasn’t enough as the Roys win by a solid 21 points.

ROY 4 2 8 4 11 8 13 8 86
HAW 5 4 7 4 8 6 9 11 65

Likely to poll:
Gilbert_Hodge: 22 disposals, 8 tackles, 104 DT and 2 goals
Freakie: 22 disposals, 7 marks, 82 DT
IMS: 22 disposals, 10 marks, 96 DT and a goal

Southern Dragons Vs West Coast Wonders at Dragon Island
The Dragons are looking to recover from their shocking performance in the finals last season when they got knocked out in straight sets after having the double chance. The Wonders on the other hand were just happy to make the finals last season after just scraping into the top 4. The Dragons got off to a bad start with their loss the week before to the Hawks by 20 points, while the Wonders go off to a flyer with a 39 point win over the Gumbies to finish on top of the ladder after round 1.

The Dragons got off to a hot start kicking the first two goals. But then the Wonder would kick four of the last five to get them to a 13 point lead. However they also kicked nine behinds which could cost them the game. A tight first five minutes to the start of the second quarter saw each team kick a goal each. The Wonders took it to another gear and kicked the last five goals of the quarter to get out to a very comfortable 52 point lead at half time; however the Wonders also kicked 10 behinds in the quarter to not make things too embarrassing for the Dragons. Two goals to three in the Wonders favour saw the Wonders hold a 55 point winning lead heading into the last. The last quarter was very tight with each team scoring six goals each but in the end Wonders were too classy for the Dragons in this one as they go on to win by 58 points.

PVF: 27 disposals, 6 marks, 100 DT and 2 goals

Baghdad Bombers vs Mount Buller Demons at Abdu Prison (MOTR)

A perfect game for match of the round, the Grand Final rematch from season 14. The Bombers would become victorious in a very low scoring match to secure their third premiership. The Bombers got off to a great start in their premiership defence with an impressive 26 point win against the Roys. The Demons had a good win in round 1 when they defeated the Furies by 17 points.

A tight contest in the first quarter with both teams going at it. Both teams would score four goals each but the Demons would have the edge with one more behind to lead the quarter by a point. The second quarter the Demons had all the momentum with the team kicking seven goals to the Bombers two to have a 31 point edge at half time. The premiership quarter saw both teams kick four goals each but unfortunately the Bombers couldn’t make any ground as the Demons held on to a 32 point lead going into the last quarter. The Demons seemed to be cruising in the last quarter as the Bombers kicked the five of the first six goals of the quarter. Bombers full-forward Okeydoke had plenty of chances to get his team in front but ended up kicking three behinds in the dying stages. He did kick the last goal of the game but it wasn’t enough as the Demons hold on to win by 7 points.

So after just 2 rounds we have somewhat of a surprising top 3. Whilst Shaun Duggan is premiership captain it’s his teammate Wise Guy Sam the punters had unbackable at the tote, saintkildaman is the last person anyone would pick to win a Mobbs and whilst Larrikin has history he has been a forgotten figure this year. Interestingly the Wonders have polled all 12 votes available in their games thus far.

We now welcome Juggs to the stage to bedazzle us with his Round 3 wrap up.

Round 3 of season 15 saw some fantastic games. Some were close and others were not so much but all were entertaining.

The Dragons were up and about, the Roys stuggling through a slump, the Dees were unbeatable and the S14 premiers went on their merry way after a bit of a struggle with the Hawks in a hotly contested MOTR.

Furies vs Dragons

Plenty of fried chicken related banter here which was a bit uninspiring so I'm going to just cut straight to the match.

Easty was thrown into rover and responded to the move nicely by kicking an early goal giving the Dragons a handy lead. EagleOz83 was fantastic as one of the season's hottest players but it was a bit of a lone hand. The contributions from the Furies weren't consistant enough and they found themselves getting blown away by 6 goals and it could've been much more too if the Dragons kicked a bit straighter. ljp86, drd23 and Gibbsy were all good but I'm going to give the nod to WAG because he didn't miss any of his chances contributing 3 goals.

It was all but game over from here.

Wonders vs Roys

This match thread started very spammy with beez having a crack at the Roys for the poor quality. Mobbs then has some quiz about old music that nobody gets before WGS gets things back on track by declaring the Wonders have Lions and Stillnox and will be using them to maximum advantage. pants then comes back with something from his own arsenal the Brutalus Maximus Pantius but I don't think they really helped. The Roys then named some inactive flogs in key positions and away they went.

The game started hot with goals being scored at both ends. The Wonders then started to miss their shots before muttweed snuck one through. The floodgates then opened with the Wonders kicking 5 straight including a couple of good ones from WGS. The Roys then try to fight their way back into it with great fight shown by Carn The Roys !, Mobbs and 3KZ is Football. The Roys then get within 11 points with a great goal from Cheetah. The Wonders are not done with yet though and they pick themselves back up in the 3rd quarter. Lets relive this touching moment between good mates ClarkeM and Crowie.

Makes you wonder if the Roys half back line was even on the field. Fred helps himself to a couple of late goals but it just isn't enough to get them home and the Wonders scrape by for a narrow victory.

WONDERS : 12.8.80
ROYSFC : 11.10.76

3 Wise Guy Sam
2 Carn The Roys !
1 Frothies McVeigh

Demons vs Gumbies

The Gumbies tried the psychological games here with StFly trying to stir up some talk of mutiny, the Dees responded with some funny pictures of gumby and it just went downhill from there. Eth was keen to point out just how inactive the Gumbies were and Marklar_33 then fired up for a bit of banter. StFly then posted way too much in one post and Claypidgeon kept going on about Kleenex. I was only too happy to point out that I have exclusive rights to the best tissues on the planet and he could get his slimy hands off. peterss put down his token contribution and it was time to play.

It's all one way traffic at the start but the Dees kicking is sloppy and it takes more than 15 minutes before Eth finally slots the first goal of the game. The gumbies hit back through wodoiput but Eth nails another to keep the Dees up at quarter time. A great play coming early in the 2nd quarter starting with the S14 Mobbs medal winner getting beaten in the air by Quivorir.

The Gumbies are not done with yet with a bit of a fightback before the Dees pile on some more behinds and Eth kicks his 3rd. cooney, WaLkEr_ThE_StAr, doggies ftw, Deddy and Juggs all firing the Dees are quickly up by over 40 points. The Gumbies close the gap towards the end but it's too little too late.

DEMONS : 11.12.78
GUMBIES : 8.4.52

3 Eth
2 Deddy
1 WaLkEr_ThE_StAr

Hawks vs Bombers (MOTR)

The banter started off fairly light hearted but quickly devolved. TPM was under attack for posting pictures, beez was under attack for making grammatical errors which he claimed were on purpose. boncer posted something snarky and disappeared. Then something surprising that I haven't seen until now and argument about me? Gee Dub found getting up IMS for being a bully to me. That is a surprise and quite a humourous one too. I'm sure it was more about trolling IMS than sticking up for me. My comments about loopy were in poor taste but our wonderful simmer lifted his game and served out the season in excellent style.

The game begins and before a minute has passed Gilbert_Hodge slots one for the Hawks. He'll slot another before 5 minutes have passed the Hawks looking ominous early. The Hawks then squander a bunch of oppotunites and a lead of 29 points should've been much more. Some excellent play by ThePuppetMaster soon sees the Bombers right back in the game.

Good goals to MannumPower and loopy_cam with Jonts ripping it up in the midfield and soon the Bombers are in control. okeydoke7 slots his first goal late in the 3rd quarter and the Bombers look to be up and running. The Hawks did have a little fight with boncer doing some nice downhill skiiing here.

The Hawks just didn't have anthing left and faded late to give the Bombers the win.

HAWKS : 9.11.65
BOMBERS : 11.7.73

3 ThePuppetMaster
2 Jonts
1 MannumPower

That concludes my wrap up of the awesome 3rd round of 15th season of Sweet FA. Special thanks to Logger for shortening round to "rd" and making it difficult to find the match threads.
