When the Steves decide to give Ross the heaveho in a year or two Gary would be the ideal replacement.

At a wild guess, I'd say he...wants a job?

Or that he hasn't been approached because clubs know what he is like.

Just how comfortable would Lyon feel with that snake in the grass sitting behind him?

He was a great player. Shit human being.

Has done some great things at Port Melbourne. Heck they're shooting for the prefect season this weekend in the VFL Grand Final.

That being said, he achieved a Grand Final spot in 1995 (the year after Blight resigned) and a couple of finals appearances at Adelaide but I don't honestly think that he's up with the way of the modern game these days

I'd say no to him near our club

Meanwhile, I think Freo need to get their ass into gear and get Scott Watters as an assistant coach. This should be priority number 1.

No thanks to Ayres.

Dont think Watters will come back.

If Lyon and Peter Bell get along, I expect he will join us.

A name no-one seems to have mentioned is Blake Caracella, very smart football mind imo

Was going to start a new thread but this will do.

Who decides who the new assistant coaches will be ?

Obviously we need them, does Ross put forward a few names, or does Bondy decide on who is available.

Anyone familiar with the protocol.

Historically a new coach gets to put his own team in place when he arrives, but I don't think anyone here is overly clear on how the Bond/Lyon hierarchy works exactly.

Blight would be the worst assistant coach in history. He is alpha, not assistant. Better to have proven assistants who are not Seniir Coach material (I thinkl Harvey and Ayers fit here) or young aspiring coaches (Watters))).

Think Watters is the man and until this week thought we might get him. Now if he doesn't get the Saints job he can wait until next year and be pretty much first in line amongst the up and comers (perhaps with Burns).

I would rather gouge my eyes out with chopsticks than have the egotistical, poisonous, proven failure of a chump, anywhere near our club.

For the love of god. NO!!

lol, post of the year, i particularly love the "proven failure of a chump" part.

anyway, i never could stand aryes, let him go to another unlucky club

You sure about that PB?

After all, the club's mullet levels are at an all-time low with Palmer's departure, and the alternative is Laidley:eek:
