Where to for Benny from here? Struggled on the weekend, and looked totally bereft of confidence. Also copped some fearful abuse from the Geelong faithful....comparisons to Ray Sterrit and Austin McCrabb being prominent. A spell in the seconds? What is the answer?

Also: Any chance of seating for the away members and ground staff qho have a semblance of a clue? Showed my NMFC membership to one and asked 'Where can we sit with these?' Answer: 'Not here'. Good bloke.

Oh my god, no wonder he was down... fancy being compared to Austin McCrabb and Ray Sterritt!!

Seriously though, Benny was one of our best players last week against the Bulldogs before he got injured... I don't think he was 100% fit on the weekend, probably shouldn't have played.

Graham was on the bench because of match ups in Norths forward line. He's probably the only Geelong player who didn't have a clanger on the weekend [waiting for someone to drag out the stats ;) ].

Grahams been pretty good this season.Hopefully he doesn't get wasted up forward if the forwards struggle.

According to Tiffany Cherry, he was benched for disciplinary reasons.

I hope thats not the case, because if it is true, about 15 others should have been sulking next to Benny on the bench.

Who says Mark Thompson only benches the younger players when they make a mistake?? Ben Graham should have been thrown up to centre half forward if there wasn't a match up for him in defence as we had nobody to kick to up there.

We could ask the same questions of Sav Rocca at North. Will he get the flick now they've carried him to 200 games ? His kicking was woeful on sunday and he's slower than any other league player.
The North fans near me certaintly weren't cheering when Sav got near the ball.Their reaction was almost similar to that of when D.Bourke got with in 20 metres of the ball in the VFL game.

Ok ill probably get my head bitten off for putting this up, but i though i would just in case some cat fans havent sen or heard it.

Graham fined for confrontation

Former Geelong skipper Ben Graham has been fined $2000 by the AFL for his boundary-line confrontation with Western Bulldogs ruckman Luke Darcy in round one.

AFL football operations manager Andrew Demetriou announced the penalty on Tuesday, after seeking an explanation from both players.

Darcy had left the field under the blood rule when he was confronted by Graham in the players’ interchange area during the final quarter of the opening-round match at Telstra Dome.

The Bulldogs ruckman received physical attention from numerous Cats after he shirt-fronted young Geelong player Joel Corey and cut his head in the process.

Matthew Scarlett, Darren Milburn and James Kelly all expressed their displeasure at Darcy’s actions, before Graham had his say on the interchange bench.

In receiving the fine, Graham was told that his confrontation was “avoidable and not in the best interests of the game”.

Darcy avoided a fine, but was warned against engaging in any such skirmish.

The Western Bulldogs won the match by 39 points.

Yes, he was. Another thing he is, is lucky to be alive.

Yes, fair point. Sav is also short on match fitness, but he needs to do a fair bit more to retain his place, as he in danger of being made redundant by Petrie and others. Re. his kicking, I haven't seen him hit one well this season, including the game he played for Port Melbourne. He isn't slower than Steve Alessio, is he?

lol. There was some talk that he was responsible for Grant being doubled over and he came off straight after that. Didn`t look happy either.

Shinners made an interesting point that Graham has lost some confidence being forced to play all over the ground. I thought that he did alright in the last quarter in defence and at least knew what he was doing with the ball. He looks a much better player there to me.

With Graham and Scarlett, you have two guys that you could build a defence around. Sanderson is always reliable and there are some decents youngsters to be added. Then I think that you guys would be a much better and more consistent team.

Personally, i'd prefer be base our defence around Scarlett and Harley.

Ben Graham has the potential to dominate, but he isn't half as reliable as the other two.

Benny just needs to get fit, he's got a bad back right now.

I think Geelong's major strength is their young players. Ablett Jr. was excellent on Sunday, Joel Corey had a huge amount of the ball, and James Kelly is pure class (what odds would I get on him winning a Brownlow during his career? I'll put a lazy $10 on him).

Agree with Dingster about Scarlett and Graham (when on song) also. Throw in the cleverness of King (ground positioning and knock ruckwork) and the likes of Riccardi and Sanderson, in 2-3 years' time when the youngsters have played their 60-70 games, look out.

That's exactly right, Benny just needs to regain his fitness and the confidence will follow. I think he will be able to dominate more once we regain Tom Harley in our defence as it will free up Benny to play on the 3rd tall forward.

Benny is a f*&king twit.

Played a great first half, played a skithouse 3rd quarter. For a ex-captiain and experienced defender, his 5 minute brain fade was unforgivable.

Getting caught when he had 3 teammates queueing up calling for the ball was just pathetic. Absolutley pathetic. I can understand that may happen if there were no options, but he had many players wide open, he just did not pass it.

Great example leader.

He should also not take kickouts from full back, he is f**king terrible at them, and costs us every time.

He does this kind of sh*t every week, and I have now, finally had a gutful. He is weak as ****, soft, heartless, indecisive.

Come on Murph, open up and let us know what you really think. We're here for you. I could whip up an imaginary article, if that would help.

I thought that was the whole idea of this site, to have a little fun.... maybe I am wrong.

Oh well, back to the topic at hand, I agree with Murph's comments. Benny was fantastic in the first half on Saturday, then for some reason lost concentration in the third term, cost us 2 goals and momentum, totally unacceptable from an experienced AFL footballer, then cramped up and after that was useless.
